Do we need a trump wall?
« on: December 13, 2018, 03:33:17 pm »
Trump wants his wall .has threatened to shut the government down. Democrats are standing firm. there is a immigrant problem but not as bad as he makes out. Some are just fleeing a terrible situation with their kids . In hopes of a better life.

He is an idiot plain and simple in my blood. Let him foot the bill for the wall with his own money if he really thinks we need one

The wall completion was estimated to cost twelve billion dollars by a presidential hopeful during the two thousand and sixteen presidential campaign. In February the Department of Homeland Security put the cost at twenty one point six billion dollars which is considered to be an under estimate of true cost due to inadequate details on the physical structure, omission of details related to the legal fees required to seize the land on which the wall would sit. The presidential hopeful boasted that the cost of the wall would be paid by Mexico which does not appear to be the case. Even if transmittals from the states back to Mexico were taxed the large companies (WesternUnion/MoneyGram for example) would be damaged with the cost having to be imposed on all people sending/receiving money (average consumer is at a sub poverty level). If Mexico does not pay for the wall the average citizen would have to pay one hundred and twenty dollars at the lowest estimate but more realistic higher estimates would pt the average bill at five hundred and forty dollars per US citizen. The proposed wall plans, regardless of cost, are aimed at being thirty feet above ground and six feet under. Water tables along the walls proposed path are as far down as seventy five feet. Tunnels have been found as deep as seventy feet. Current plans would be ineffective against tunnels. The wall currently covers seven hundred miles of the nearly two thousand mile long border and was started approximately ten years ago.

Truly a waste of money along with other ways the money gets wasted and can be put to better use.

<sigh>

Funny how the answer is right there before our eyes and many dont see it.

Let your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.

I don't really think is need it.  Let me clarify to you all, I am a US citizen of an Hispanic mom and American Dad, was born in the US and grew up in Latin America after my parents divorce.  I don't approve of the way some of these immigrants get here Illegally, but the problem is not only Latin America, there are people from Africa and Asia that also come in Illegal on boats and no wall is going to stop them from coming to the US illegally.

The wall is not the problem, I do not think the us the US Citizens have to spend all that $$ on something that is not going to work.

Also, as a Contractor for the Government, if the Government shuts down I WILL NOT BE paid or reimburse for the day I loose.

I believe we do. There are 23 million illegal immigrants that are drawing aid in our country. Preventing more illegals from coming would save spending that kind of money on aid that belongs to American citizens.

I think that people that come to America should do it the legal way. They are breaking the law and we need to protect our country from those who mean us harm and from diseases that they are bringing here.

I probably am in the minority, but I think Trump is doing a great job and I totally support his concern and desire for a border wall.

As to the shutting down of the government, I don't feel that's much of a problem to most people. My apologies to lywb2168.

Please remember not to bash my opinions.  :'( Just state your case, as I did.

I assume the person who posted this question disagrees since he called it a "trump wall."

A border wall is necessary. People who jump our border are not going to be good citizens, but just looking for free assistance.

If they are sincere about wanting to live here, and contribute they can prove it by obeying our law right off the bat, and come in the legal port of entry

We need better border security, but not a multi billion dollar wall.
