I'm so good at sleep.  If I don't get enough I don't function very well.  And if I'm not at 100 % I will take a power nap if possible to I can power up.  I wish I didn't need 8-10 hours of sleep.  Some people only need 6 or 7 and they do greatl

I had a teacher in high school that only slept about 3-4 hours per night, he said any longer was a waste of precious time.
I think the amount of sleep we get is part of your mindset and what your body is used to. Once you change it, your perspectives change.

Seems like every night there is some new reason I don't get quite as much sleep as I'm trying to. I generally stay asleep once I fall, but it can take me a few hours to fall. Melatonin helps.

Yes, the day isn't long enough. On most nights I only get 5 hours sleep. I still have things that need to done.

Definitely not. I have a new medication that pretty much prevents sleep, yet I'm always exhausted anyways. It doesn't make any sense!

Most of the time I do get enough sleep. I've always been one that needs 9-10 hours of sleep to function.  I can still function pretty darn well off 8 now.  Any less than that I find myself needing naps.  Which if time allows power naps are enough to get me through.  Lately though my daughter has been setting her alarm for 5:30 a.m.  Than presses snooze for 2 1/2 hours.  Now that's interrupted sleep I've not dealt with well.

I think that everyone is of the belief that they never get enough sleep. Health professionals have been trained to tell us that everyone needs eight hours of sleep and ten glasses of water. Psychologists will tell you that you need less than an hour of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. I believe that my body, and mind can recover after five to six hours of sleep. I think that a person can train their body/mind to live on less sleep by simply programming your mind to accept lower amounts of sleep. Similar to taking daily steps in order to achieve a goal I set my alarm clock for one minute of sleep less every month for a year. I now go to bed between twelve and eleven and wake up between four and four thirty in the morning. I do thin Monday through Saturday and allow myself the luxury of an eight hour sleep on Sundays.

I do not base my answer to "do you get enough sleep" on what some health care person says. I base it on how I feel.  Sometimes I do.  Sometimes I do not.

I do not believe you can program your mind to get by on less sleep.  When I was younger I could sleep 5 hours or so and be fine.  As I get older I do not do as well under those conditions.  Sometimes you do what you have to.  We have a local factory that at times forces their employees to work 16 hour shifts.  That leaves 8 hours of not working.  Factor in driving to and from work, eating, doing things you have to do, and they are getting 4-5 hours of sleep.  You do what you have to do.  They are not getting enough sleep but it doesn't mean their body will just shut down.

It does explain why there are random accidents sometimes resulting in death (no joke) but it is written off as something else or a freak accident.

I get more sleep than I used to when I had a serious addiction to technology, but I still don’t quite get sleepy at the right time.

I usually get around 6 hours of sleep. Or I go to sleep at 5am and wake up at 12pm-12:30pm. There are times I'm not sleepy but I'll play a game on my tablet until I fall asleep. :)

Well that was about the 20th night in a row I couldn't sleep straight through the night for some unique reason! This time my dog woke me up at 1 having to go potty. One of these nights I'll get a solid 8 hours somehow.

A solid eight hour sleep has eluded me for so long, I lost track of it. What is surprising is, I can sleep more soundly during the morning hours.
