White vs brown

Do you have a preference between white or brown eggs?  Do they taste different?  I've never eaten brown eggs so I don;t know a difference.

I don't think there's a difference but the size of the egg.

   White, brown, yellow, beige...any color...
I just do not eat them!
Why don't you just let them hatch!
    Happy Easter to all!

Just thought I'd share; since, I always wondered about this myself. I'm shocked to know there's no difference. I always heard that there was a nutritional value difference, wow!

1. Is there a nutritional difference between white and brown eggs?

Actually, no. The difference is all about the chicken. White and brown eggs have no nutritional difference; however, they do have a noticeable price variance on store shelves. Brown eggs are more expensive than white eggs because of the difference in the hens that lay them. White eggs are laid by chickens with white feathers and white ear lobes, while brown eggs are laid by red-feathered chickens with red ear lobes. Chickens with red feathers are larger in body size and require more feed which is why brown eggs are more expensive on store shelves.

They are different.  If you crack a brown egg beside a white egg and compare them and then scramble them and eat them side by side their is a difference in how they look and how they taste.

It is the same with buying an egg from the Food Mart and getting one from a farm.  You crack those side by side and compare and they look different on the inside and they most def taste different.  The farm eggs are much better.

I've always only eaten white eggs but I assumed the brown were organic, which I guess means the chickens that hatched them were fed a stricter diet.

In the health community we're taught that white is bad (rice, bread, potatoes, etc) so I assume brown eggs are healthier and may consequently taste less..appetizing.

I don't have a favorite but my daughter will not eat brown eggs. I grew up on a farm so I eat both.

My mother raised chickens, white and red/brown ones.  I remember the eggs being beige and brown.

I could care less about what  color the shell is, but I do know the eggs from chickens that are raised free range the  yolks re a richer yellow.  My stepfather  prefers the brown eggs I get  from my boss as they are raised free range out in the country.  So I get a dozen every now and then for him.

I rarely get the brown eggs but I have a couple of times and I couldn't tell the difference.  My sister-and- brother in-law had their own chickens and some of them laid green eggs and those were kind of unappetizing looking from the outside but probably tasted the same.

being from the northeast we have more brown eggs here. growing up we always had brown eggs. i have lots of friends that raise chickens and all the brown. when i was growing up the only time we bought white eggs was for easter so we could color them. I am not a big egg person but i have never tasted a difference. :rainbow: :peace:

They're not fertilized, so you're going to be waiting for a long time!  ;)
