I am assuming though that this probably would not be 'approved' for use in high efficiency washing machines?

I too have that recipe, but in our water it is just not  as good as regular soap. I use it on  my  under clthes, but   with hubby's I have to use stronger soap. He tries to  stay really clean but when  out doing hard work and sweating or getting really greasy  it just want work.

Interesting... thanks for the recipe

I looked up Fels Naptha on search & it's sold on Amazon --Fels Naptha Laundry Bar and Stain Remover, 5 Ounce  $1.95

Get's rid of poison ivy, too.  I'm tempted to order it to see if it is like oxy clean & give my laundry stain fighting a boost :)

Thanks Again!

Walmart does carry Fels Naptha bar!

What is it and where in Walmart do you find it?

Look at the laundry soap area  , it's about  6 inches long   and about 3 x 2 inches   its the old laundry bar soap they used on wash boards on the river sides. or in a wash tub!  And for the person asked about grating it  YEP  !!  i use a box grater  like for making hash browns !  There also might  be some in the bar soap area  , i'seen it before .

Walmart .98 bar, in the laundry aisle!!!

I think I bought a Fels napth bar not knowing at Walmart. I'm so tired of buy brand name laundry products but the stains of  food, blood, grease, dirt, wring around the collar is so frustrating! I'm gonna try this recipe. Thanks for sharing, I hope this works!

Sounds very close to what my grandfather used to make to wash clothes . He was a farmer and he was as self sufficient as he could get not completely  but close

Mom's Homemade Super Laundry Sauce

One Single tablespoon does a whole load of wash!

Here is an amazingly simple Do It Yourself detergent that doesn't leave any residue on clothing, gets nearly every stain known to man out the first time around and smells clean and fresh- oh and did I mention that it costs about $1.76 for 128 loads of laundry?

Since our teen son started working at a fast food restaurant, this has become our most-loved detergent recipe. His clothing was so saturated with heavy french fry and onion ring grease scent that even washing them in TIDE didn't take out the horrendous smell. I whipped up a half gallon of this detergent and washed his clothes while he was at school- he thought I'd gotten a new shirt from his boss at work! First time EVER that ALL of the smell finally came out of his clothes, without further à deux - here is my Super Laundry Sauce recipe!

As with ALL household/Soap/Detergent/ Cleaner recipes, please take the time to read through the ENTIRE recipe before starting it. It will save you loads of hassle with a recipe that doesn't set properly.

~ This makes 1/2 Gallon of concentrate ~
~ Btw, that's a full 128 loads of laundry!! ~

1 bar Fels Naptha (Yes, the ENTIRE Bar!)
1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax
1 cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (NOT BAKING SODA!!)
4 cups of hot water

Thank you for sharing the homemade Laundry Soap!  It sounds simple enough.  I like homemade and cost effective cleaning recipes.  This one is LIQUID when you get it together?  I just see a list of ingredients, not the directions.

This is what I found when checking onlined:
Natural Laundry Soap Recipe
Grate the bar soap or mix in food processor until finely ground. Use the soap of your choice. ...
In a large bowl, mix 2 parts washing soda, 2 parts Borax and 1 part grated soap. ...
Store in closed container. ...
Use 2 Tablespoons to 1/4 cup per load of laundry.

Anyone want to talk laundry pods? I find that my current pods are extremely dissolvable in water. They weren't that much or rather I see ads with prices on pods that aren't that high.

I have everything but the Fels Naptha so I may give it a try one day just to see what it does.

I love Fels Naptha. It gets stains out of everything. And I'm sure this concoction works well.

But calling laundry detergent a sauce is wrong on so many levels.  :bad:
