If they are definitely free I don't mind taking one.  But sometimes they are there to use at that location and shouldn't be taken.

I am talking about when they have like 50 pens sitting there for people to take.  Yeah the ink pens at the window in the banks are not for the taking although most people do.

And the tellers don't mind people taking them as much when they just take it as when they act like oh I didn't realize I still had it.  Yes you did.  If you ask them they have a ton of them and will give them to you.

The thing that started this thread they had a table set up and had a bunch of promotional items.  I asked if I could have an ink pen.  Since I was not interested in their deal behind the table I did not take or ask for anything else although I am sure it would not have been an issue if I had.  This was a cool looking pen or I would not have even bothered.
