Something You Do Not Enjoy Anymore

I used to like reading, but now it feels like a chore. Have you ever felt the same way about any hobby?

I kind of feel the same about reading. Loved to read as a kid, but school kind of made it seem like a chore to the point where I barely ever sit down and read an actual book anymore.

I rarely sit and ready anymore who has the time with so much going  on in life but I do and have been known to listen to audio books in my car  while driving or with headphones when doing chores

Uh life in general.  I don't know I don't enjoy much of anything anymore since my mom and husband passed away.  I have two grown sons but not that close to them anymore I don't know.  Like a lot of you I was an avid reader when young but have trouble with my eye sight now so it makes reading difficult to enjoy.  Ooooh I am feeling way too negative now so lol guess I will leave this well enough alone.

I like reading...what I do not like is lengthy and boring books. I just do not waste my time that way.
I love to read because it is the only way be informed and acquire knowledge. I usually read summaries
because they are more effective than long books.

I like reading, but lately I have not gotten into it.  I really do not enjoy long trips in a car, i used to love them and did not care always was an adventure, but now I find them long and tiring

I used to love to play the piano but now practicing the piano seems like a real chore and so I just don't do it anymore. Of course, I am gradually losing my ability to play well by not practicing, but that's just the way it is.

It doesn't seem like I ever have the extra time to read.  I do read my Bible every morning during my personal devotionals and catch up on the news on the internet but that is about all I read.
Have a wonderful day!

I feel the same. Although my hubby is still living, I'm alone from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. He's in his garage all day doing "things." People bring their stuff to him to fix while a lot of personal stuff isn't fixed. I quit asking for gutters and downspouts for the house long ago(never had them on this place) so the porch walkway and the wood siding is rotted or slick with green "algae" halfway up the walls. So I don't care anymore. I'm not close to the boys either. They'll visit at the garage but never come in to say hello. I never know when they're here. I can't see the garage from here and the only way I know is when hubby tells me. I love genealogy but haven't been able to keep up on it because I need to keep trying to find a job and/or make some money on sites like this.

I used to enjoy exercising but as I've gotten older it's just not something I enjoy, it's more of a chore now.

I used to be an avid bowler as a kid. I absolutely loved it until I started competing in college bowling. Then team politics took away my enjoyment of it. I've gone a few times since I quit, but it isn't the same as it used to be and I don't know if it ever will.  :'(

I think I know what you mean. When you force somebody to get involved in something, you make him/her hate such a thing. I was so close to hating taking stairs in school when my father wore me out by making me do so!

I used to thrive on walking.  I was into counting steps before it was cool.  However, the internet age has consumed me and I find myself content to sit for hours at a time.  Actually, doing these surveys has made me realize the trade off of time-for-money surveys versus breaking up the day with regular movement, especially a commitment to walk at least five evenings a week.

This is a good forum topic because it's thought-provoking to me. :moneymouth:
