Do you brush at least twice per day, floss, and regularly go to your dentist for check-ups?  I am asking because I am angry that dentistry is not considered as part of our healthcare insurance as they are so important to our overall health.  Teeth and gums can become unhealthy, and once they are, it is so expensive to treat them!
I agree too.Its so expensive nowadays. What do you pay health ins for?

I agree, I do try and take care of my teeth and keep my regularly scheduled  appointments for cleaning etc.. I guess I am somewhat fortunate because although retired from  a school system; I can still get my insurance through them as a retiree but do pay for it! and dental is included; I just take the basic plan and hope that no major issues happen.

Dental Insurance is so very expensive.  No matter what you need done to your teeth it cost a bundle.  If you need just one implant, it is costly.

Yes, yes and yes.  I agree that dental health should be a part of the health insurance coverage.  I carry additional dental and vision policies with my health insurance policy.
Have a wonderful day!

I have always taken excellent care of my teeth.   But because of medications I am taking for a health problem I am beginning to have lots of problems.  My dentist says this is a very common problem for anyone with ongoing medical/medication issues.  I am fortunate that the teeth were in such good shape and I am staying right on any changes.

I'm pretty good on oral health. But I've never had good teeth. Just a couple of days ago, I was told that two of my crowns had cavities underneath them. It ended up costing over $1500 and that's with my dental insurance.  :sad1:

This will take a while to pay off, but I figure your teeth are worth it. They affect your entire body.

I brush 4 or 5 times a day, floss about twice daily and I use a soft dental pick.  My visits to the dentist are about every 6 months or so.

All of this has paid off for me because I have never had a cavity or gum disease.  Yes, I think it would be nice if oral health care were part of regular health insurance and not a separate policy.

I don't even carry any dental insurance because I don't think I'd ever need it.

I brush about 3 times a day and floss. I completely agree with you. When I was 18 up until around 24 I did not have dental insurance and it was crazy expensive to get all the work done I needed. I am actually still paying on my teeth.

I agree, insurance really should cover it. It's very important to have healthy teeth. I don't floss as often as I should but I do everything else. I also use mouth wash.

I try my best, but could do more....I agree, I had to have a gum graft done a few years ago and none of it was covered...I couldn't risk not doing it though...

I totally agree with you. It should be part of our healthcare insurance. I just don't understand why it is not. My teeth were damaged by prescription medicines I had to take for health issues. Lost many teeth and replacements implants are so expensive

It is IF you have dental insurance.  Everything is separate now. Most insurance plans do not cover scripts.  You will need a separate plan to cover those.  Unless you have the welfare insurance and get everything for free.

I agree with you that dental insurance should be part of health insurance because dental health is so important and it is now so expensive too. My dentist charges about $1750 for a crown these days and more like $3000 for a dental implant once everything is all said and done. It's just outrageous what they get.

Not that long ago a crown was around $1000.  But I am not surprised it has went up.  That is why most people do not go.

The reasons health care plans do not wish to cover dental treatments are patients have too many dental problems.
Shame on these insurance companies because oral health is very important.

If dental was taken care of by health insurance with not such large deductibles and co-payments, many more people would go to the dentist regularly and it would become a more preventative service.

lol  I doubt it.  I think more people are afraid of a dentist than any other doctor.
