It depends on the product and if it is a "best when used by" or if it actually has an expiration date.
Have a wonderful day!

A lot of things are good past the date on the item.  I have drank milk that is a couple days past.  If it still smells and tastes good.

Canned food is good sometimes years past the date.  The date on the can is actually for the guarantee on the can and how long IT will keep the food fresh.  Canned food will last forever.  Although it usually does start to taste bad after a while and change consistency.

Like gaylasue said - there is a best by and an expiration and if you are not paying attention you do not catch that or realize they are two different things.

It depends on what it is. If it is dairy products, I don't. If it is Chips, crackers or any type of dry food I will eat it if it expired a day or two ago.

It depends on what it is and how broke I am. Lol.

Usually it's canned and boxed foods - occasionally I'll have milk that's a day or two over if it's not "bad" yet.

Try to drink and eat fresh food products.
Avoid expired products. It is just to risky!

I have eaten foods past the "sell by date" lots of times.  The labeling "sell by" tells the store how long to display the product for sale.

I would think it would as she said depend on the product.  Some things are okay to use after and some things are not.  I mean milk sours and clabbers and is gross.  They have to put a date on it.  I figure over all if it smells okay and tastes okay then it should be fine.

But that reminds me of a 2nd job I had once where I worked in a camp and the woman who was over the kitchen was smelling of sandwich meat to see if it was okay.  I swear she rubbed her nose on the sandwich meat to smell of it and said it smells okay.  I threw it in the trash.  People are disgusting.

I'll eat canned goods after the expiration date, but never dairy or meat.

If it looks, smells, feels, and tastes okay, I'll eat it.

Like everyone else, it depends on what it is, Milk is good for a few days after expiration date, but depends on how it smells.  If it is cans and boxes, i trusted for about a month or 2 after, but after that i will throw away.  I do not want food poisoning.
