Blood Pressure
« on: July 18, 2019, 01:57:46 pm »
What a tricky situation.  Last month I failed to qualify for a study because my blood pressure was to high for the specifics of the study.  Today.  At first it was to high,  wait five minutes and take a reading with a bigger cup.  Low enough to be in the specified guide lines.  Wow.  I passed the rest of the screening also to my surprise. It's just been in the past couple years that my blood pressure has been high.  So now I am working on lowering it without pharmaceutical drugs.  Basically, its give up those things I enjoy.  Do you believe you can control your blood pressure with out prescription drugs?

Yes, in certain situations. But I wouldn't play around with HBP, it can destroy your kidneys and cause you to go on dialysis.

Yes, I believe you can control your blood pressure by managing your diet.  Often times, people experience high blood pressure when they have a sodium/potassium imbalance.  It's easy to get too much sodium and ideally we would make sure we're getting plenty of potassium.  I notice a difference when I give up soft drinks and drink raw carrot juice, instead.

Have a great day!

I agree.  I haven't tried raw carrot juice or things like that yet. I have cut back on soda and caffeine finally got over that potato chip craze I was on.  Feeling better just with that.  But not giving up on getting it down on my own.  It will take a little time but I can do it.

I keep mine under control with prescriptions.  Have ever since I first had it many years ago.  I see now there are articles telling of foods that will help lower it naturally but they can only help me.  I genetically have blood pressure problems.

Eating less sodium is supposed to help lower it I think? Mine is borderline low and my doctor said to eat some more salt.

Diet is not the only culprit.
Weather, stress, lack of exercise and
    other factors affect blood pressure.

He said that when they used a bigger cuff And recheck it it was down to where you qualified maybe it was the small cuff It was stressing you out because it was too tight I know sometimes when they take my blood pressure if they don’t use a big enough cuff it hurts Causing my pressure to be higher than it would normally be

You might have been a bit nervous the first time - I sometimes am when having blood pressure taken

The larger cup was way more comfortable.  Also they took it using my right arm and that arm usually hurts anyway.  also I know that my left arm will give a lower reading.
