I completely agree, I'm the same way.

It really depends on the person calling/texting.  Some people I would rather only receive a text from and others I would rather receive a phone call.

I'd rather talk. I don't text.

It depends on what I need to accomplish with the conversation.  For a short, I just need an answer conversation Texting is a great convenient to get that done quickly.

For a more intense conversation it's just so much easier to dial the phone and talk.  You just need to have the time for some chit chat when you make a phone call because that is inevitable.

It depends, but usually after working all day and talking to people, I just want to text instead of talk more.

I prefer texting. I am able to get to the point quickly and very little time is wasted. It also provides a reference point if someone has forgotten what they have said. 'The palest ink is better than the freshest memory'. This is especially true when communicating with my wife, kids, parents and (most recently) parent's caretakers. My harried life requires precision on my part and concise communication/texted commitment helps keep precision in alignment. I will make telephone calls once or twice a month. I am in a heavily secured area at my day time job which includes specified 'live' areas for personal calls. All other calls are done through our computers. I could make calls at my evening job but it kills my production quantity and quality.

Not really.  Hey, I'm in a hurry.  Got a quick question.  Or need to tell ya something real quick.  Gotta go.  I will talk to you later.

I agree if it is something that doesn't require back and forth send a text and that is fine.  But I know people that will draw out a conversation to half a day that could be taken care of in 5 minutes if they would just answer the phone.

I have also got to where if I need to tell someone something and they won't answer the phone and it is not a text thing then they either find out in text or I won't tell them.  Sorry, you wouldn't answer the phone.

I think what they are saying about people and being anti social and too secluded is true.  People are so wrapped up in their phones they do not even know how to talk to people any more.  I see people in Walmart with head phones on (so people won't talk to them) all the time.

There was a girl in the bank a few years ago and when she walked up to the teller she had head phones on and the teller spoke to her and she says "huh" and the teller repeated herself.  I told her NO WAY would I have repeated what I said.  You want to conduct business take the head phones off and do your business.  Otherwise step aside and NEXT!

I love to talk. However, my daughter, daughter in law and granddaughters all mostly text. Therefore if I want to communicate with them more I have to text.

For little short communications, I prefer texting. But to have any sort of real communication with tone and depth, I really prefer talking on the phone. When a conversation goes beyond a few sentences, I like to get a real feel for what is being said in a way you can't get with a text. Also, I prefer to talk to my kids so I can hear their voices!  :peace:

Well, when I first heard about and saw people texting, I thought, "That will never be me!"  You can't teach an old dog new tricks.  But lo and behold, I am now texting somewhat regularly.  However, regarding those near and dear to me, I still prefer a phone call and hearing a voice.  That will always be my preferred communication although I admit that quick acknowledgements are best through texting rather than getting involved in prolonged conversations.

It just depends. If it is a simple conversation, then I would rather text. If it is an important conversation that takes a lot of time, then I would rather talk on the phone. I feel like that typing in a serious conversation that I can't express my feelings except by using my voice so the person that I am talking to can really know how I feel and think.

Sometimes a one line text can be misunderstood if you don't have the tone of voice.  Or heaven forbid you forget to put an "lol" at the end.  I had somebody get mad at me once because of something I said.  I was kidding.  But he said well you did not put 'LOL'.  smh  My next reply was "what ever" and NO there is no LOL. haha

If it's a long conversation, I would rather talk on the phone.
