How many pets?
« on: September 26, 2019, 05:50:01 pm »
How many pets are too many pets inside?  We always have people tell us we have too many.  We used to have 6 cats and a dog.  After my son moved out with the dog and his cat, we got 2 kittens.  So now we have 7 cats.  Our house is large with 3 finished levels.  Each cat has its own particular personality, and we love every one of them.  I wouldn't get any more, though.

I only have one cat. Unless someone's home is nasty or the animals are not taking care of properly no one can tell anyone how many animals they should own, of course they might if you are in the city limits.

As long as they are taken care of and so is the home then I say the more the merrier! I love animals.

That sure is a lot of pets! I've never had more than 3 (cats) at a time.

I guess it would depend on how big your house is.
Have a wonderful day!

If you enjoy them and can afford to feed and care for them then I'd say it no ones business but yours

I agree with several of the posts. It is nobody's business but your own and it should not really matter as long as each animal is getting enough food, attention and proper care. I Had two Golden retrievers up until July when my youngest died at age eight from a cancerous heart tumor (fairly common in American Golden Retrievers). My nine year old had all the signs of mourning/depression so we began looking at potential additions and researching durability. English Cream Retrievers have less incidences of cancer and a longer average life span. We visited several different expecting dog parents, decided on one and picked up our new puppy last week (have had a few sleepless nights). We found that we have adequate financial/love resources (three finished floors at our home) to cover our older pup, this pup and enough to adopt a third. We have opted to adopt a third, in March, from our latest source (March will mark the second litter for the male and first litter for the female). I volunteer at No-Kill shelter for dogs which, I believe, strengthens an argument for capacity to have three dogs.

It doesn't matter how many as long as they are being taken care of.

I think as many as you want and are able to take care of.

I have 2 dogs and that is more than enough.  Vet bills are over the top with them especially since one has allergies and they are getting old.

Depends how much time, money and care you have to offer. However many you can care for responsibly and keep your house from smelling like a kennel / litterbox... I've been in houses that stank like there were 20 cats when they just had 1.

Depends on where you live.  Not just the size of your home, but  do you have near neighbors?  They might have something to say about all the animals roaming the neighborhood?????????? :cat: :dog: :cat: :dog: :)

I have 5 dogs, and many cats.  I won't admit to how many, but I will state all my pets are rescue, all are inside pets, all get vet care.(emergency and routine),one has a cardiologist and one has an optometrist and another has a dermatologist.

I am in agreement with lots of the other posts.  It is up to you and how many you can afford and can properly care for.  I don't have any pets.  Can't afford it.
