I can see both sides of it. My neighbor lets his dog out about 8:AM and the barking sometimes wakes me up and I'm not pleased. But I can't complain. He's a dog. He barks like dogs do and it's usually over in a few minutes. No big deal.

At the risk of stoking countrygirl12's ire, 6:30AM is waaaaay too early to be mowing a lawn.  :D I had a guy used to power blow his leaves in the fall and it was annoying, but that was around 8:AM as well.

All neighborhoods have City Ordinances. Typically you can't make noise from 9 or 10:PM to 7 or 8:AM depending on your town.

No all of them don't.  There is not one where I live.  And def would not be as late as 10:00 am.  smh
There are a lot of people who mow early in the morning when it is cool.  Some people can't mow when it is in the upper 90s.  Most of my neighbors work so they are not laying in the bed all day anyway.

So who decides what these "quite hours" are?

Cities, counties, or states decide. I live in a major city and you can't run loud machines or power tools (saws, drills, lawn mowers, etc)  between 10pm and 7am.

Exactly, they are decided by our elected officials, so we, the voters, enacted the noise ordinance times. Noise Ordinances for one's city or county can easily be looked up online ... at least here in Cali.  Probably can call city hall or the police department if they aren't published.  The hours are not a secret, nor are they arbitrarily decided.

It amazes me that so many people want to jump down my throat because I mowed my yard at as early as 6:30 or so a couple of times.  NONE of you even know me.  And NONE of you live near me.  Like I said there are no ordinances stating you can't mow before a certain time.  Not where I live.  Every where is different.  And thank GOD I do not live in California where they have went absolutely crazy anyway!

My neighbors dogs were barking before 6 this morning.  Guess they don't know about the rule. lol

Guess over all my neighborhood is pretty good because most people mind their own business and don't complain too much.  Had some crappy thumpers lived around here a few years ago but they have both died.

People who were bad neighbors, always in everybody else's business, called the law on everyone on the street at some point or another in their time living here, and trying to shove their agenda down every one else's throat.  There was only one person one the street that really even half way acted like she liked them and she basically just felt sorry for them.

No, I said in some places they have noise ordinances after 10:PM, not AM. I think in most places it's 9:PM though.

Look, I make no apologies. I don't have to get up until 9, sometimes 9:30, so I realize that's 'late' for some people. So I don't complain about people making noise at 7 or 8 AM. But,anything earlier than that -unless you work on a farm- is too early for noise.  ;D

And I make no apologies.  I can't mow when it is in the upper 90s so I have to do it when it is cool.  It has been a pretty hot summer and really dry so actually have not had to mow that often.  Most people in my neighborhood could care less.

As far as I know there are no noise ordinances in my town.  And it would have to specifically state no mowing your yard or what type of noise applies.  If there are they are not enforced. The worse thing that would happen is a police officer would say don't do that.

I think it is ridiculous to expect anybody to wait til after 9 to start mowing because you want to sleep.  Not YOU personally. :D

Like I said before I don't care too much what anybody does as long as they leave me alone.

If i hear a mower or blower 630 in morning i wont be happy.

In fairness, the sun hits it's full strength at different times at different places. At my old home that would be about noonish, so we would mow the lawn about 11 AM. Where I live now, it gets hot around 10 AM.

I think the best option would be to mow the lawn around 2/3:PM AFTER the sun is on it's way. That would suit everybody.  But, hey- that's just me.  :P

Just got off the phone with the police department. We were told that there is nothing she can do about Sasha barking unless it is a continuous barking. He said that so long as it isn't before 7am or after 11 pm we have nothing to worry about. whew lol. He even said a dog is a dog and is going to bark....thank you all again so much !!
That is good you did that. I was going to mention that. In any neighborhood there is a noise compliance. Certain hours of the day. In our area it is 7am to 9pm.

No there isn't.  There isn't one in my neighborhood or any where in my county.  It depends on where you live I guess.  There may be in areas where they have a home owners association but those are not real common around here.

We have idiots who play really loud music at all hours or have cars with no mufflers and sit in the road and roar the engine for an hour or more at a time.  Most people ignore it.
There is where I live.

Oh my Gosh why do people have to be like that?  If it was 4:00 AM I could see it but not 4pm.  I know what I would call this person but I don't think it would be appropriate for this forum.  People are so hateful and unreasonable. I have always had at least one crappy neighbor every where I ever lived.  This neighborhood has been the best but even here I had someone complain because my grass got a little long one time.  And I seriously mean ALITTLE.  I am elderly and disabled but they didn't ask me if they could help they just went to the HOA and complained. I am sorry you are going through this.

It was 4 in the afternoon and you all were out playing with the dog. Let the dog bark. THat is what they do. If it was all night that would be different. She's just looking to start trouble.

If he does not want his dog to bark, then tell him to trade the dog for a cat. LOL.

I'm afraid that's like!  Your neighbor needs to realize your dog is part of your family.  And as long as you are careful when you play with her outside where she barks, then life should be accepted as it is.  However, if your neighbor doesn't agree,  just be kind to her - say hi when you see her and let her be.  Don't antagonize her. :dog: :)
