I was told to always write 2020 so that someone can't fill in 20 number with another add on (ex...making 20 a 2019)

Be sure to put 2020 and not just /20.  /20 can be manipulated and cause problems for you.

So far I have not had to write a check in 2020.  I paid all of my bills at the end of December.  I hope when I do have to write a check I remember to put the correct date.

I have been blithely putting the new date on my checks by putting a "20" after the "19" making it 1920. Duh.  :silly:

I'm not sure it's a big problem. I haven't heard anyone complain yet, but I didn't even think twice about it.

:fish:

That is too funny.  At least you aren't doing what everybody else does and writing 2019 still.  I love it!  Sounds like something I would do.  I have, much to my surprise, been writing the date correctly so far.  Now, I've probably jinxed myself.  LOL

When writing important documents, make sure you write out the full year! Anyone can go in and change a 20 to a 2016 or any other 2000's year.

I don't have the 19 on my checks.  Good thing because I'd never even think about it.

LoL, I have never done that. But when June comes around I will still be writing 19.

Most of my bills I pay online. I do write a few checks and it is so easy to at the beginning of the year not to write the correct date.

I did that at my podiatrist a few days ago. Thankfully my fiance was there to let me know. It was too dang early, lol.

I usually struggle with this myself but since I have only written one check so far this year (and that may be one of only four) I write I managed on that one anyway.  I only write checks 1-4 times a year for my neighborhood's fees. Thank goodness !

I don't write/use checks, but it can be irritating to remember that the year is 2020 and 2019.  It will still take a minute for those who write checks to use the correct year.

I probably write 4 checks a year, and haven’t written any yet.

I haven’t written a check in a long time.  Pay things online.

Same here...I used to do it for rent but now that's online....I only use them for occasional payments...
