It has been crazy to see what stores are like....not sure why people are stocking up...especially on TP lol....stuff like that you should have extras of all the time!!!

Some people don't have extras all the time.  They buy what they need for the week or the next few days and they go back to the land of abundance aka Walmart.  If you would watch the news you would know why people are stocking up.

I stopped in to get milk and bread yesterday.  Most of the shelves were bare.  They have started rationing items.

I have not seen any rationing of food items.  Just TP, and sanitizer, and stuff like that.  I can see food being next.  Esp when some idiot grabs and entire case when it is put on the shelf. I was talking to a woman Sat morning and the shelves were on the bare side.  It was early before the stupid gets out of bed.  I commented on that and said for instance if there are two of an item on the shelf and we both reach for it ... before I could finish she said I would get one and you would get one.  And I said "exactly".  I won't need anything for a few days.  And I can live without milk.  I think some people at church have cows if I really needed milk. haha

It's been crazy at all my stores too. Haven't seen fighting or anything, but busier than Christmas and lots of bare shelves. If I wasn't staying home to avoid the virus, I would be to avoid the other shoppers!

Yes, the stores are off the chain and making a lot of money.

People are buying up everything they can get their hands on.  I think it is stupid.  You should only buy what you need so other people can buy what they need.   As for the closing early, I understand that it is to clean the store and restock.

My daughter sent me an article about a virus victim in Tennessee, that was quite uplifting, about the community rallying around the family.  It's long, but I thought some of you might like to read it:

I just got back from the pet store to buy cat food, and the shelves were mostly empty there too. There were only two bags  left of the brand I buy, and they were the smallest size: 2.2 lbs. I only bought one, even though I intended to buy a larger bag. This is insanity.

The stores have not been that crazy in our neighborhood since they started posting signs saying we do not have toilet paper and including an anticipated shipping date. I stopped at Costco yesterday for undershirts and was lucky enough to pick up a pack of 20 large facial tissue boxes. When I checked out the clerk told me that I could get a second package if I wanted. I indicated that I was not as greedy as the general public seems to be and only sought to cover my needs. The manager was standing near by and thanked me for being human. She said it is amazing how gluttonous people have become and this virus  scare has brought out the worst in everyone. I chuckled at a meme yesterday geared around the President's advice to buy breath machines versus impossibility of buying toilet paper. Someone, on nextdoor neighbor, stated they saw a family of two that were unpacking close to eight hundred rolls of toilet paper and invited all Covid victims to go cough/sneeze on the house. It is not pretty out there.

Just a reminder to be extra nice to those working at those grocery/Big Box stores for showing up to work & not calling out sick, or just quitting.  If they didn't show up to their just above minimum wage job for most of them, we would be standing in even longer lines & less products getting on the shelves -- some are working extra shifts & overtime to help out.  Definitely today's heroes :)

 :cat:

 ???

Has any convenience stores closed or limited hours? 7/11 , Quik Trip Circle K etc, Park n Shop?

Way more expensive, but if that is the only option, I guess people will pay the prices they ask.

Same problem here, went for regular grocery shopping and found our first store almost completely wiped out. I couldn't believe Trader Joe's it was so bare unbelievable. We had to hit 2 more stores to find enough groceries, but found no eggs anywhere. Crazy!

Awww, that's so sweet that you left the other bag for someone else.  If I could, I would give you some or our cat food.  I think we have plenty for our brood to last for a couple of months.

I get just about all of their food and litter from Chewy so I don't have to worry about going out.  Of course, Chewy can be out of stock on certain items like what has happened in the past.  Then I have to rely on a local store which is fine.

Right now, things are very uneasy and shelves can go empty quite fast.
