Las Vegas has gone dark
« on: March 18, 2020, 06:41:21 pm »
I never thought in my lifetime that I would see Las Vegas dark.  All casinos and hotels are closed, even machines in convenient stores are closed.  No where to go and no one to see.  This is a sad in our history.

It's all so crazy right now....like a bad nightmare.  I pray that we see the light at the end of the tunnel soon!

The Giovernor ordered all hotels and casinos to shut down by noon today.  Guests were kicked out of hotels. He ordered all non essential stores to be closed too.
The strip is bare.

Las Vegas being dark is hard to imagine.  However, in light of what's going on it's better to be safe than sorry.  When you consider that it is a 'destination' city for tourism and many conventions I feel sure that swift action had to be taken for the greater good.  Hope all goes well once this virus is nipped in the bud.  :rainbow:

This whole virus situation is uncharted water right now so any town going dark I am not surprised especially a town like Las Vegas known for its nightlife.

Wow, I had not thought about people getting kicked out of hotels. What a tough spot that would be.

I agree.  I don't get the hysteria.  I know what they're saying but I don't think it's necessary.

Yes I am astounded by what we are experiencing.  66 years old and never saw the likes of it.....even when we had a flu scare it was a drop in the bucket compared to this situation.  Very concerning and weird.

I have an online friend who lives in Vegas, she posted a picture of how it looks with no lights...Kinda scary if you ask me! I have never been there, but have always seen beautiful pictures from family, friends, and online places of all the bright lights seen from miles away. I can't wait to see a google picture from way up above of this. If anyone comes across a recent picture please share it with us!

I look at it this way, everything needs a break and it sounds like Las Vegas is over due for a vacation

That's crazy! I can't imagine the iconic strip being dark and empty! I also saw a picture of Times Square empty today.
