Stimulus checks for all Americans?

Well, I haven't received a stimulus check but I did receive my refund check from the IRS! What a awesome blessing! I definitely could use that money right now.

Do you think they'll really do this? I said "LOL yeah right" when I first heard the idea, but it sounds like they might actually be considering it. Last night my local news said the amounts they are discussing are $1200 for singles $2400 for couples.

Well I work from home primarily. Only a few jobs that I work outside are affected. Hopefully it will all work out for everybody ya. Remember the country is also losing money.

It's tax time, they think they will make up the loss and break even from  2019 taxes, till next year when the taxes paid will reflect this shutdown!!

...and $500 for every kid but it's graduated amount for anyone who earns over $75K to 100K. Earning $100K or higher gets nothing.  Yes, supposedly the first checks will be going out "the week of April 6."  IRS will be in charge of those who file taxes. Social Security supposedly in charge of those on SS. How can they make sure people don't get more than one check? Some people on SS have to file taxes to the IRS every year because they make over and above the cutoff amount.  I hope there will be a check and balance style match so those on SS who file taxes don't get a check twice.

I think they really are going to send checks for $1200 to just about every adult in the country. There might be some exceptions, but I don't know what the exceptions are. Does anybody else know?

I read that people who got their 2018 or 2019 tax refunds via direct deposit will get their stimulus money faster, because the IRS already has their bank info on file. Paper checks are going to have to wait a lot longer apparently.

Liked Andrew yang too. Would love to get a check. Have plans already. They vote on Monday think it's a go. Many are out of work and will need it.

Who's going to vote on Monday? Congress went home as soon as they passed the $2.2 Trillion bill. It would have been nice if Pelosi didn't throw in those items for the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian, and other non-related activities  for this virus. Mostly, it's to protect employee jobs with these non-related $$ but the Kennedy Center already got rid of their employees so they should be giving the money back.  I think they will be off until Easter.

It has already pasted the house and senate and President Trump has signed off on the bill.  It will definitely happen for all tax payers and senior citizens.

I believe they are going to send out stimulus checks, but you have to have met some criteria. I think having a tax return is one.

It's a nice idea and I like it, but I'm not sure how much good it will do in the long run. We'll see.

I think a lot of people are expecting those stimulus checks.  I really don't think it will happen.  Some people think that they will not have to pay their rent or mortgages for 2-3 months.

I hope they come, my daughter for one will need that $$, my hubby and me for now are working from home and getting paid, who knows how long that will last.  But me daughter works for the Public Schools and here in Virginia  the governor ordered all schools closed for the rest of the Academic Year, my daughter is a part time working on the After School Program, she is also a full time student in College, and looks like she will not get her pay after March.

What worries me about these checks, is that sooner or later we will have to pay it back, most probably in next year's taxes.

No you do not have to pay it back.  smh  Where do you people come up with this stuff.  They sent out stimulus checks a few years ago and nobody had to pay that back.

I said we would have to pay back the stimulus and I was right, They say this is an ADVANCE on your 2020 taxes, so yes we are paying it back.  Nobody give you $$ for free.

No, you don't have to pay it back. It is an advanced credit on your 2020 return. You will either get the payment now or when you file your 2020 tax return.

No, you don't have to pay it back. It is an advanced credit on your 2020 return. You will either get the payment now or when you file your 2020 tax return.

That is paying back, because if you only get $2500 for 2020 taxes, then you get $100, if you get less than that you have to pay the IRS what you owe so one way or another you paying it back
