JoAnn's Is All Closed To COVID 19? My location closed for curbside pickup but no date when they might be opened!

Oh goodness! I hope not. I tend to shop there frequently for yarn and other knitting paraphernalia. In fact, just recently, I ordered and received several *bleep* of yarn from them. :(

There are so many stores and shopping centers closed due Covid-19 pandemic.
   It is all so sad!

I was wondering how everyone is making homemade masks when the non-essential stores are all supposed to be closed. My husband tried to order masks online to have just in case the government requires people to wear them, but we're not supposed to receive them until the end of June!

I had just taken most of my scraps of material to church for our "Loving Hands" group to sew pillowslips for children at a shelter, and so had very little supplies.  Thanks to my mom, I had 3 lengths of elastic, and enough scraps of material still at home to make a few masks for our local nursing home.  I haven't looked into buying more materials, but figured they might be hard to find.

CityThreads dot com has masks you can order. Double cotton made in Los Angeles, shipped from Los Angeles. I just got mine today, they're pretty nice for masks. If you sign up for emails they'll give you a 15% off first order.

The mayor of Los Angeles got the garment district to make masks & official sanctioned those who qualified, as masks are required wearing here & a lot of California & the surgical ones are all sold out.  ProjectLA

COVID 19 has and continues to cause so much destruction everywhere, I hope some of the businesses will be able to come back but just not sure. JoAnn's is so needed at this time for those looking for fabric to make masks.

I had not heard they were closed here, I could use a few thing to sew with.

The government cannot "require everyone to wear one" unless they provide them.  We are still a free country.  People better pull their head out of their butt and see what is going on before we aren't anymore.  You can look on YouTube for videos.  I saw a video the other night that had a simple instructional video on how to make a mask from a bandana.  You can also cut up an old t-shirt or use any piece of material.  It was no sew and looks simple.  I am wanting to make one but have not done it yet.  It is on the agenda for later today. lol

I thought they were curb side open.  Possibly not in all locations.  :(

Yes, in Los Angeles, Riverside & San Bernardino Counties - if you leave your house you must wear a mask.  You will be fined $500 for NOT wearing a mask!

Lucky, I live north of Los Angeles! I live in Ventura County! Ventura County has about 300 cases & 10 deaths!

Being a huge yarn hog myself, I am so glad that Amazon at least has a lot of the yarn I like to buy. I've been able to get some other craft supplies from Amazon at a pretty good price (you have to really look around on there). If I didn't have Amazon, I think I'd go crazy with not having my craft stuff!  :peace:

Are craft stores considered essential? I have some crafts I've been wanting to work on (not covid related, just my usual stuff) but assumed that would all be closed.
