I just found out my step mom in Michigan has the cornona virus and not doing well at all.  She has dementia and other medical problems.  She was in a nursing home.The last time I saw or talked to her was 2 years ago and she had no clue who I was but I am happy that I made that trip to see her.  For a long time we did not talk because of the way she treated my dad and my sisters.  My dad passed away 4 years ago and she has been in nursing home for about 3 years now.

That was very kind of you to visit your step mom even though she treated you and your family poorly. I have an Uncle like that, we hadn't talk for years too but when he called saying he was hospitalized with a failing heart, I called to wish him well and let him know he wasn't alone and that I cared. Good people do things because we know what's right not because we seek reward, bless you and take care!

So sorry this has happened.  I will be so glad when all of this mess is over.  So many people are getting sick.  Some have pulled through, but others have passed away.

So sad to hear.  I am 66 years old and have never experienced anything like what we are going through with this virus.  It is just unbelievable.  Well hopefully it is a comfort to you that you did the right thing when you went to see her even though it sounds like in a way she didn't necessarily deserve it based on how she treated your dad etc.

ajamimajida, I am sorry to hear about your step mom.  Dementia is its own enemy to deal with, now corona on top of it....UGGGH.  I pray that she will have a mild case and not suffer from this virus.

I've heard that many people in nursing homes are getting COVID-19. Hopefully she'll recover!

Thank you everyone for your prayers and kind words.  She is still hanging in there.  She is on ventilator but fighting.  I know she can beat this.

unfortunately many deaths in nursing homes from the c virus. hope she recovers. its scary for sure  they need to find a way to separate people in nursing homes who are sick from those who are well.

That is kind of hard to do when you have limited staff that goes from person to person and room to room.  Most nursing homes are one floor with a couple of hallways.  They don't tend to realize the people are sick until it has spread all over the place.  And until they are so sick they are bed ridden you can't lock them in their rooms.

Besides the fact that the staff is most likely who is carrying it in since they no longer allow visitors.
