Can we catch this Covid19 virus from packaged foods we buy from the grocery?

8 food companies with workers who have tested positive for COVID-19

https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/health-news/8-food-companies-with-workers-who-have-tested-positive-for-covid-19/ss-BB12W59m?li=BBnba9O

Sample of the great article:

90 people at Tyson meat plant recently tested positive for COVID-19. And Tyson isn't the only food company to have employees sickened with the virus.

I would say no.  People have got to get a grip on reality.  It is funny you have normal people who will interact with others and then physcos who do not want to touch anything that somebody else has touched.

I've read that the virus can survive on various surfaces for up to a few days, so I would believe it's possible but probably not common. Every surface on earth has germs on it anyway. I say live your life and wash your hands.

From what the news has said you can't get it from food. If you bring things home from the grocery store you should wipe everything off.

I don't think you can catch Covid19 from eating packaged food since food goes into your gastrointestinal tract.  I do think you can catch it from touching packages that have been touched by someone positive with Covid-19 and then rubbing your nose or mouth so that the virus (if still alive on the package) gets into your respiratory tract.

Because we are still learning about this virus (hence the reason why it is referred to as a novel coronavirus), I would be exceptionally cautious when it comes to food and how it is prepared. I haven't stepped foot in a restaurant for this very reason.

I quit eating out a long time ago. Way before this "virus".  Mostly because people are just in general nasty.  Anything that can be cooked in a restaurant I can fix at home and it will be just as good or better.

I still eat at Taco Bell and Subway. No problems with me. But I try to cook at home more often due to what's going on.

Today's news has an article about a Colorado Walmart shutting down because of deaths in their workers.  Must read!
This is a huge precedent as people are buying essential items at Walmart all the time!

People are buying everything at Walmart all the time.  Some places Walmart is the only shopping center they have available.  And you do not know what is "essential" to some one else.  I have said before this is not going to end well.  But I don't mean it the way the ones scared to live do.  People are tired of being locked in their homes. People who don't get government checks and do not qualify for unemployment and the extra $600 need income to live. NOW is the time to plant your garden. THAT is essential even though some think it is not. The protests and fighting back is going to get worse.  SO basically it will come down to you can either hide in your home or you can live your life.  If this is going to come back every year like the flu and with different strains there is no way to hide in your home for the rest of your life. No matter how much stuff you got hoarded up in your mini mart in the basement.

I would hope these people are not working with food if they are feeling sick,  We mostly eat at home with food we make.  once in awhile we will get take out from our favorite place but not often.  I just don't trust anyone any more.
