Feathered Visitors
« on: May 13, 2020, 07:22:47 am »
This morning, my bird feeder had several Goldfinches on it.  Then a Hummingbird arrived!  YES!!

As I was enjoying their antics, a medium sized songbird landed on the shepherd's hook.  It was black on its back and head,  white breast with a brilliant Red patch under its chin.

I was too slow to get a picture so I googled and discovered that I had a visit from a Red Breasted Grosbeak.

I filled my feeders up yesterday.  They had been empty for a while.  I don't think the birds have found them yet.  I have a house bird feeder but the strap you hang it up by broke so I have got to fix that before I can hang it back up.

I saw some beautiful birds, one with bright blue feathers the other day, in my yard. Spring is definitely here!

We had an Indigo Bunting on the bird feeder this week.  We've had the Grosbeak too, one of my favorite birds, along with the Downy woodpecker.  Orioles have arrived for the grape jelly we put out.
Lots of turkey vultures...beautiful and graceful in the air....quite homely up close.

That's cute, they are so fun to watch especially the hummingbirds. Do you have a hummingbird feeder? I got one to land on my finger once.

I have 3 bird feeders and love to watch the birds.  I put up my one hummingbird feeder last weekend and saw my first hummingbird today.   I was thinking if I see more I’m going to buy another hummingbird feeder.

Speaking of bird feeders, we invested in a really nice squirrel-repellent bird feeder after squirrels tore our plastic bird feeder apart.  I don't mind squirrels getting the food, but they really took over and decimated that other bird feeder! So we got the much better bird feeder and haven't looked back. My husband fills the feeder and then leaves a bit on the patio table for the squirrels to get a taste. My cat Tinker likes to look out the window at the birds and squirrels, so we call filling the bird feeder paying for Tinker TV!  :cat: :peace:
