Haircuts
« on: June 14, 2020, 04:50:41 pm »
Have you been able to go to the hairdresser yet?  We are starting to open slowly but unfortunately beauty shops cannot open.  My sister came over yesterday and gave my husband and me haircuts.  No, she’s not a hairdresser but I figured it can’t look worse than it does.  Surprisingly she did a good job.  Way to go!

The barbers and salons are open here, but at limited capacity. I use a Flowbee to cut my own hair. In fact, my husband is using it to cut his hair right now as I type. On the other hand, my dog needs a grooming badly, so I'm going to call around tomorrow and try to get an appointment. I've never had her groomed since we adopted her, so I'm a little nervous!

I know what you mean about dog grooming.  I have 5 dogs, but only 4 need grooming.  They look so bad, but my groomer doesn’t open for 2 weeks.  I have an appointment for them July 3rd.  Good luck for your first grooming..

I guess it is a good thing that I have always cared for my own hair except for cutting.  I had started letting my hair grow out before the pandemic so I was very lucky.  However, the barbers and hairdressers are open on a limited basis.  I think we will come out of this thing with new skills or new ways of making things happen for ourselves.

They opened here not long ago with different protocols and procedures to follow.

My salon finally opened at 50% capacity.  They are trying to get every client in so they are working on Sundays too.  I had my appt. at 9:30 on Sunday morning.  I went to church Saturday night, in case anyone is worried about my spiritual well-being.

You just got to work to get everything in, because you have to change some things around you may find that you like going better on Saturday to church.

The last time I went to the hairdresser was in February 2020, just a little before the COVID-19 crisist was officially announced as a pandemic. Thankfully, my mother was a cosmetologist, so she has now assumed hair maintenance duties for my hair. Ironically, I cut her hair myself. She has not seen the inside of a barber shop in about three years. We each save the other a lot of money, so it works for both of us.

They just opened salons in our area about two weeks ago, but knot to full capacity; everyone must make an appointment no walk ins. I have text my stylist to get an appointment ; whenever she can fit me in; until then I will continue to wash and condition it myself but I don't cut or do color.

I don't know if our hair salons are open or not.  I guess I haven't paid attention because I'm not ready to get that up close and personal with another person, especially someone regularly interacting with other people.  I guess I'm going to finally get to see what I will look like with gray hair. My mother had beautiful white hair, so maybe I should just adjust to my age!

Our hair salons are open but require face masks. I really need a haircut. My hair is halfway down my back now.

But I'd rather wait until I can go in like a normal person and not like I'm Typhoid Mary. :-[

My friend went to the barber shop the other day.  Was told he needed a mask.  Sort of silly when every place else a mask is optional.  I don't get my hair cut to I don't deal with that problem

I have been giving the men in the group home where I work haircuts since the shut down.  Not my profession, but they look decent.

My wife has cut my hair three times since the quarantine started which more than made up for the clippers I bought. Trying to decide if I should let her to continue to do it was the hair places open.
