Can you imagine if all police departments were shut down.  Lawlessness would rein supreme.  You can expect the police to do right and you can train and make rules about how to deal with people who resist the police and do wrong but if we do away with the law all we will achieve is chaos.

You are so right Debidoo.

Trump gave them the option to take his assistance and they would rather burn than take his help.

lol Yeah and now they want to blame him and scream why won't nobody help us?  Well you were offered help and you told the "help" to get out. So deal with it yourself.

They may have no need to defund the police departments. Forty nine percent of the police in New York have requested early Retirement. I would imagine that the large percent of those remaining  would be smart enough to see increased work loads, as well as lack of vacation, and give deep consideration to quitting. Detroit will probably follow suit after the police rammed protesters with the car. One protester said that it was a peaceful demonstration and that he was injured while climbing on top of the police car that had had it's rear window shattered by peaceful protesters. Chicago will see it's share of early retirement as they are seeing increased murder rates. Saint Louis has set the record for murders so far this year, what what sane individual would want to be part of that police department.

Hi!

I believe without some order and rules freedom can't truly exist. The world would be picture perfect madness.

That right there is contradictory. You cannot have rules and order and have this strict idea of freedom exist just the same.

"Defunding" the police is a misnomer and does not actually describe what is being proposed.  It should be called something like "reorganization" or "re-prioritizing."  Certain functions that police departments have been having to perform is dealing with mental health and drug addictions issues.  One of the concepts being proposed states that these functions be taken care of by civilian professionals more familiar with what needs to be done in these cases.
