I'll be homeschooling mine.  I've done it before so it's no big deal to me, but I understand how it can be overwhelming when you're not use to it.

We have that option in Arkansas too, thank goodness.

In my area in Memphis Tn, the schools are offering parents a choice of in-person or online classes. I think this is a good idea.  Pres Lumpy can not withhold funds from schools that choose not to open.   :pumpkin:

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I don't have children and I know it must be hard for some parents who basically rely on schools for daycare when they are working but I don't think schools should open in August.  Where I live they go back in September right after Labor Day.  I think it should be delayed for sure maybe until October when hopefully we have gotten over the worst of it.

Trump is the most moronic, stupidesy buffoon that was ever elected into office.  Why are people still listening to him?  Anyone with common sense, should know not to send their children to school during this time.  It is too soon to send children to school.

Interestingly, Trump may be pushing for this as well as some other Republicans, but Trump's son, Barron, will not be going back to his expensive prep school as I read it is not re-opening for in-person learning.  Hummmm!!!

Because the school is one of the many schools that is not re-opening, NOT because Trump told Barron's school not to open... it's a private school that Trump doesn't control.

Parents who rely on public government schools that are funded by tax payers, should have the choice to send their kids to school or allow them to learn at home.  Teachers are still being paid full salary & I know here in California they have a list of demands before they reopen, none of which have anything to do with the children or how sanitized the school is.

Really?  When did Trump say this, was it during a tv interview maybe?   Because I ran an internet search, & literally could find nothing on it: in fact, just the opposite:

Trump Says He Will Send Barron and Grandkids Back to School
He has "No qualms" about people related to him going back to school.

I don't agree with sending them back to school.  I just heard the other day of a class being shut down because 2 or more kids tested positive for covid.  So I am thinking why start just to stop.  I would so much like to send my grandkids to school but if I was good at homeschooling I would keep them home.

Opening schools for any reason is a bad idea.  I don't care if the children are small, they can still past the virus because they could possibly get the virus from a parent or any other human being.  I do understand that this is a hard decision for parents and others.

I completely disagree with schools opening up! I will explain why. My son works at the VA hospital and my daughter in law is a school teacher. Both of whom have been working from home since April, they have 2 kids, a 5 year old and a 2 year old. they have both been home since April or before also. The 2 year old was allowed to go back to daycare 2 days a week, with only 1 other child in her class. The teachers all wear masks but the young kids aren't required to wear them. A couple weeks ago she had a runny nose and stuffed up. The next day was a daycare day and she was sent home because she wasn't feeling good. A couple days later my son and grandson started getting sick. The symptoms are what we hear about covid 19 symptoms, fatigue, sleeping a lot, severe headaches along with others. My son was tested but hasn't received his results yet. Although it is obvious the way they are feeling it is covid.
If a 2 year old can catch it from another 2 year old and bring it back to her whole family, what is going to happen with 25-30 students in a classroom?

I agree that students should stay home. I know that  there are kids who do not have food at home and they go to school to eat. I hope something happens so those kids can have something to eat with schools being closed.
