Is the IT field the future?
« on: July 25, 2020, 01:11:01 am »
Most of the young people nowadays are involved in computer sciences. It's the economy area with the fastest growth in the last decades. But won't this bring the end of humanity? Who's gonna feed these programmers when no one wants to be a farmer?

Farmers aren't going to go away just because another industry is experiencing an upsurge.

I think that there are several fields that will continue in the future, agriculture and information technology are among them. Agriculture is in the midst of adaptation as smaller entities (farms) are being consolidated and purchased by larger institutions. Urban biospheres are being improved upon allowing for more  cost effective and consistent indoor crops. Online retail is replacing brick and mortar stores and this process is speeding up with every new natural disruptance (CoVid, inclimate weather, riots, etc.) as people shrink away from exposure to calamities, embrace the confines of their homes, and use the internet and delivery more frequently. Delivery companies should also be a force in the future and have already begun evolving to meet higher demand.

Not a chance. There's only so many IT jobs out there so people are going to have to do something else.

Not everyone wants to stare at endless code (or even just a computer screen) all day. I certainly don't, and I used to work in IT. Farming sounds more appealing to me.

I think that IT is the future and if you are a good IT specialist, then you will never be out of work. I can say that it's good that I found this thread. Your comments helped me understand that I don't like my job and really want to become an IT specialist in order to get a remote job and earn more. Unfortunately, my work doesn't lead to the development and career growth and I have long had the feeling that I am standing still. So I decided that I needed to change something if I wanted to live a better life. Thus, I found online courses that I plan to take to pass the Cisco exams and get certification to achieve my main goal. The spoto club will help me with this. Thank you for your thoughts.

IT should remain prominent as long as people keep up with all the updates and new information.  IT security and AI are coming along.  Healthcare will remain a prominent field as it has been for some time.  Another one to look into is supply chain management.  There is also a need for those who have skills such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc.  Kids can access the local unions and their are apprenticeships available where they can receive paid training.
