Buy one gift that would encompass both of the individuals. Makes it easier than guessing.

Usually it's just the little kids that get gifts. Dinner and time spent with family is what the adults get.

I usually give my parents a couple presents to share and then some to keep individually.

Give them one gift unless they are on the outs and being selfish. Sometimes the finances aren't there to buy 2 gifts/

Happily and comfortable with each other couples do not need to get each other a Christmas gift.
