Solar Panels
« on: January 28, 2021, 04:51:00 am »
I recently installed solar panels this summer from Trinity Solar which just went alive. I am very grateful as my regular electric company announced that their rate is increasing again starting January 1st, an increase of ~10%.

I live in MA and with everyone working/studying from home, our electric bill has doubled every month now compared to history. I think the solar panels will save us money over long periods of time.

I found Trinity Solar to be very good at customer service and the sales rep I interacted with is super helpful in MA. If you live in MA and want his contact, please let me know. I think all customers still get financial incentives from the company for installations of solar panels even until now, so you might want to check it out if it might be right for you.

I am noticing that my water bill and natural gas bills are all going out. It's hard for me to decipher rate increase vs. we are just using more due to everyone working/studying from home.

Congrats! I've been wanting solar panels for a while, especially when I got my Firestick and got use to the idea of having minimal bills.

Your electric company may have info on it soon or maybe you should look out of state. Hope this helps.

I got solar panels almost 2 years ago. It seems to be one of the biggest wastes of money I have ever spent. My regular light bill is about $200 and solar only covers about $50 of it and I pay $200 a month for the panels. So I am paying more than I ever did for power before.

Was thinking of getting them. Not sure if it's worth it. You pay for the panels for a long time.  I do have a large pge bill from the heater and In summer from the a.c..

I've also been thinking about getting solar panels when I purchase my first home but based on teresa3200's response, may have think twice about it.

I wasn't aware that there was a monthly fee, what was the cost if you had chosen to pay in full?

The nice thing about solar is that the electric company has to buy your power  overage but the cost is still out of our range.  My bill runs (on budget plan) $123 a month. As I was shredding old bills the other week, my electric used to run $32 a month. Sad that prices go up every year on every utility because they know you can't do anything about it.

I thought is you used solar power that was your source of power so you no longer need the electric company. If it only saves you $50 a month it is not really worth the cost of installation and making your house look bad.

I am not understanding how your electric bill can only be $32 a month.  In my area when people look at houses they always ask the seller how much their electric bill runs. Never understood that because what I use is not what you will use but anyway, people always say oh it's $100.  And I am like you are a liar! Average is closer to $300.  I would like to live on a farm in the country and be able to power my house with solar and wind and not need the electric company at all.

I always thought solar panels were a good thing. I alway wanted to get it, but I will do more research. I did not know you still have to be involved with the electric companies.
