I Could Have Been..
« on: June 21, 2021, 03:51:58 pm »
While watching the Olympics I was amazed at the track runners and started thinking, that could have been me. I used to run track in 6th and 7th grade.(Christian School) Never ran track in  High School because of my anxiety and low self confidence. I was super fast too. I participated in a track meets, can't remember the name but it was close to the Olympics. lol

Anyone else had talents but never really got to follow them through your life?

Fancied myself an artist until middle school and I saw the drawings of someone, a guy, multi-talented and it took the wind right out of my sails. Just gave up flat. What a loser!!  :-[

I was not very talented when it came to sports or drawing but I enjoyed doing a variety of craft.  I made clothes for my family out of necessity. I became very good at it but in my later life, I do very little of anything.

Talent? No. I mean I think I was pretty decent when came to drawing. A bit more practice and I could have been good but I had no interest in being an artist.

I never really had a talent. I did like to draw and was pretty good at it and I loved making jewelry if that's a talent

In some settings talent is necessary, but in others talent is overrated - and hard work or determination is more beneficial.

I really wanted to be a gymnast, so I always feel a bit sad watching gymnastics.

I really enjoyed drawing when I was young and still like it now. I should have picked it up and will do gather some supplies from my basement.

I was good in music. I started playing the piano at 8 by ear. Then graduated to full keyboard and pedal organ. Teacher pushed me all the time. I played the full keyboards and both feet. By the time I graduated high school, teacher recommended Julliard in NY. She thought I could be a concert pianist. As usual, dad said no. Didn't want me in the big city.
