electric vehicles

How do you feel about owning one? I'm becoming more interested in them since I've been watching videos featuring Elon Musk. He's so brilliant and caring; like Trump.

So as soon as I garner around 50 grand, I might consider getting one. And if you haven't gotten one by then, I'll let you know how it goes.  :highfive:

Addendum: I do wonder about running out of "electric" since it's slightly different from running out of gas.

Yo! No comments on electric cars at all? How about self-driving cars? Now there's a concept that makes you think twice.  :confused1:

Like who's at fault in an accident.  :dontknow: I can't imagine there won't be any accidents.

Fried a circuit breaker with just a 110 AC, can't really see my old house having a charging experience! Won't sit at a charging station either, so no.

NEVER. Batteries are a waste and end up in the landfill. Too expensive. No charging stations nearby and certainly won't waste my own home electricity. I can see lots of cars just sitting on the highway in snowstorms or other traffic problems as they run out of charge.  In my opinion, a big waste of time and money.

The Venza charges itself. If you know how to google you can read it for yourself.

Im really baffled at how many havent heard of the Toyota Venza.

I checked out the Toyota Venza online and it looks pretty great. Good for you, Donnamarg323.

I gotta admit I'm a bit envious of your ride. :-[

I would try a Hybrid vehicle but would not go all electric at this time.

In the last 10+ yrs Linder we have leased 4 Toyotas and owned 1.We owned the Corolla, leased 3 Rav4s and just leased the Venza.

Toyotas are great cars.We got the 5 plus free maintenances with the lease.

When our lease ran out in Aug 2021 on our Rav4 they didnt have anymore and the only thing they had was the Venza. We even had to wait a month for that too cos of the Pandemic.

So far so good.We can go 10000 miles a yr on the 3 yr lease. We dont usually put more then 9000 a yr on the car.You definitely see the savings with gas now.Dont get me wrong the Venza is a $35000 car.We put down $3000 and our payments are 295 a month. But we love getting in a car and NEVER worrying about repairs etc.We have Sirius radio too that we love.I definitely recommend the Venza if you can afford the payments. In the long run the peace of mind you have with it and they are great cars, all Toyotas.

My wife had a RAV4 when we first met. It was a nice car - not an electric, but a Toyota. I really enjoyed it. But I kind of soured on the company as a whole when they lied about several known safety defects about ten years ago or so. I don't recall the specifics.

I looked into a few hybrids when I was recently in the market. I really liked the look and reviews of the late model Ford Fusion - but the amount of trunk space that I would have to give up in the hybrid versus standard gasoline model was too great.

We have had more nit-picking experiences with corporate BS then car performance.Im sorry to hear you had some features that you said RE safety defects.

For 12 yrs and 5 cars later and service dept stuff the place we deal with is only 5 miles away we have put up with some of the corporate stuff. We have enjoyed the cars themselves and that is the most important thing.

Im not afraid to speak up to be treated fairly and we arent out to screw anyone either.Mutuality reins in anything.A customer deserves to get what they want for their business.Sometimes honest mistakes are made too but hopefully in the long run stuff can be resolved.

With the Chevrolet Bolt, they pay for installing a charging station in your garage at home so you just plug it in at night just like you do your smartphone.

A friend of ours bought a Toyota in the '90s, put over 250K on it and was still using it before he died 5 years ago.  That's great news about the Toyota. Never heard of it and definitely can't afford it but the price doesn't seem too bad either. We were going to get a Toyota as our next vehicle but retirement put the skids on that. Our '98 Buick gave out last fall and my son's girlfriend gave us her 2012 Dodge Avenger. It needed a little body work from an accident with a garbage truck that sideswiped her but hubby is good at body work. She also had Sirius but it was broke. Don't care. Husband doesn't use the radio in the vehicles anyway...but he won't let me try to drive it with my bad right leg because he says it would "get away from me." Gas pedal is really touchy. I so looked forward to trying to drive once again. i don't like depending on him because I can only go somewhere if I ask days ahead and then I have to rush so he isn't sitting in the car waiting forever. :(
