Given that there are several 'ignorant' users of FC's "ignore" function, (in that they claim to use it while simultaneously not ignoring the pseudo-ignored member's posts), perhaps the function could be renamed the "Osterich" function.
-
If only we could move posts to the correct forum topic we could call it the 'lead a horse to water button'.

We members can't but, FC staff can - if they wish.

Falcon loves for people to put him on ignore, since he thinks that gives him the all important "last word".
I call it the "Thanks for adding ten years to my life" button. ;D
-
Ignorant people claim to use the 'ignore' function and then proceed to gossip and not ignore what they claimed to be ignoring. This makes such people liars and drama queens.

;D I have a BIG smile on my face because the ignore button works - wish I didn't even have to see the ignored person's name with the confirmation that the person is ignored and do I want to un-ignore them (oh that would be a heck no) - if falcon likes to be ignored because he thinks it gives him/her the last word then it is truly the last word because the only thing I ever have to see is that person's name - You might be right some people love to be disliked - well you win. I love the post by the person that he calls the ignore button the "add ten years to my life button". Have to agree with that one lol

Those who claim to use the 'ignore' function and then proceed to not ignore the one they're pseudo-ignoring by gossiping about the one they're not ignoring are ignorant of the meaning of the term "ignore."

Intersting, where is the ignore button, and why do you want to use it, I am a little confused.

The "ignore" button is just under a user's 'nym and has been used by some to not ignore while gossiping about who they've claimed to ignore. It's no wonder that you're confused about the concept, so are those who can't quite comprehend that talking about what they're supposedly 'ignoring' isn't ignoring, it's merely being ignorant of the meaning of the term. This is why the suggestion was made to redefine the "ignore" button as the "ostrich" button for such hypocritical users.

Some time back, I did not use the ignore button as it was kind of fun to spar with certain individuals, and I thought I WAS giving them the last word. However, I eventually got tired of reading the same things over and over again. Now the ignore button is on permanently. (Chirp)

Thank you for providing evidence to support the concept of the "ostrich" button.

Considering the number of people who claim to ignore falcon - and then reply to his posts, I find the ignore button to be kind of comical. Every time I read a reply to falcon saying they are ignoring him (her? - not sure), I picture a little kid with their fingers in their ears saying 'la la la la la - I can't HEAR you"
-
I dont even know what the ignore function is. I try not ignore anyone. When someone asks me something I try to answer. People need to express theirselves. Freedom of speech. Or did we lose that in america to.
-
I agree; never knew about it until now. Don't know why others waste time with pettiness. Sorry, but life is too full to spend time on such in my opinion. Don't have to use an ignore button to ignore someone. If you want to ignore, then better to just ignore.
-
These are all so interesting and some even funny. It is nice though that we can have the opportunity to ignore posts from someone or anyone whom we determine we are not interested in listening to. It maintains their freedom of speech and yet allows the rest of us to have freedom of selective reading/listening. Seems like a win win all around.

As I've said before,The Ignore function will continue to be a failure so long as the ignored person can be quoted and their post still read.
I don't think it's too much to ask that falcon be made to grow up and not harrass the bible verse thread on a daily basis. That way there'd be no long, endless arguments that he'll be continually quoted on,and I'll be forced to read. :BangHead:

The directly implied suggestion of respressive censorship is worthy of a theocratic dictatorship.

It is comical that those using the 'ostrich' button in that manner continue to not-ignore and gossiping by 'nym instead of actually ignoring.

Thanks for the info as to where the ignore button is. Great. Well I think I will just keep on earning cash versus gossiping about someone. Have a great day!

The 'ignore' button does not allow members to remove the posts being ignored and never did. In order to pretend that the 'ignored' member isn't posting things that rationally contradict irrational blind faith, one would have to put other members who quote posts on 'ignore' as well. No one is 'forcing' anyone else to read an particular post since opening any thread is the choice of the one who does it and they still retain the option to not open threads. The continued lamenting about being unable to suppress dissent consists of the underLying intent to repress opposition to specious claims.

good point jedijohnnie.

A suggestion for selective censorship and repression is only a "good point" to another repressive fundie; which means it's not a "good point."

jedi man just imagine a kid that got picked on all his life growin up... in high school was the kid sitting on the bench at break that noone hung out with. has no friends now so uses an internet gpt forum to live through but because of harassment is still not liked. Very good with words but not smart enough to pass college so joins the marines bc thats the only people that will take him. then doesnt have a job but instead of making money on the gpt site uses it to live his life on and make people mad... so mad at the world he just cant accept that God exist so tries to argue about it everyday... makes it his mission to make peoples life miserable in his "e-life" like he was growing up... it's sad and comical at the same time... an ignore function doesnt stop stupidity and miserableness... just pray for the fellow

Unless this is you, reminiscing about your regrets in life, you're trolling with gossiping lies. You did get one thing right; the use of the 'ignore' button doesn't stop its users from posting "stupidity".

The definition of "internet troll" was posted by "Falconer02" and fits both you and your previous post.

You continue to troll with this 'response', as it contains nothing but ad hominems.

I have to comment that this post was a refreshing change of pace.
Polite, appreciated the info he received, decided his interest lies elsewhere, so that's what he'll concentrate on, then he wished everyone well, and politely exited.
 Good for you, Garydh!!

Yes, I agree. His example is a great one to both sides of this issue!

I'm with you, but since this entire thread is based on picking a fight, I am locking it nonetheless.
