One day a very wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country for the sole purpose of showing his son how it was to be poor. They spent a few days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. “It was great, Dad,” the son replied. “Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked. “Oh Yeah,” said the son.
“So what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father. The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.” The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, “It showed me just how poor we really are.”

Most people don't realized how blessed their lives are!

I am very rich. I have a roof over my head, food to eat, clean water to drink, and people who love me. What more could you want?

The father made a mistake. He shoulda just drove him around the city and see how many are homeless if he was referring to poor.

The difference between the poor and the rich are remarkable.
They live different lifestyles...and think differently about their situation.

Hello! :D :)
Great story, it is amazing how differently we can see things based on our life experiences. Life is however you make it. "You become what you think about." :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

Rich people live in a different world from us poor people, they don't really understand poverty.

I will agree. People who are not necessarily rich do not understand what it is like to not have the money to participate in things (at church, school, work) or to not have the money to eat out or just go buy something you want/need. But in their defense they may not know what your situation is either. People I have worked with, go to church with - they do not know my financial situation. Not really.

Thanks for sharing it shows people see things differently.

wow this is truly a great story. It is definitely something to ponder when we see others that have more stuff than us .. when we put it into perspective .. it's just stuff that we probably don't really need anyway.
If you have your health, your family and your friends you are already wealthy in a different way.

:) ;D :) I think sometime's it's a good idea to see how much someone has vs yourself. This puts a perspective. If being poor for this story made this story person feel poor, well maybe so. Yet either side of this story seemed like they both had it fairly well. :) ;D :)
