Off-Topic / Re: Do you believe the world is going to end on 2012?
« on: December 15, 2009, 11:46:55 pm »Message ID: 120075
i just pulled a dumbass move and didn't read before I posted a new topic about the same thing lmao.. oops.. anyways. I feel the same way its a bunch of  :bs: to make money, it really reminds me of the whole y2k scare and how we were all going to die when the computers hit 00:00:00 00/00/00. Yet nothing happened and we are still here today, so I'm thinking that people want to make more money so they're scaring the *bleep* out of people so they will buy all of this stuff to find out what is actually going to happen. Making a money maker movie out of the whole thing, it depresses me.

Off-Topic / Re: Christmas Grinch
« on: December 14, 2009, 10:24:38 pm »Message ID: 119572
I usedto be a grinch.. Now the only part that really aggrivates me about christmas is the fact that christ WASNT BORN ON DECEMBER 25th!!! christmas has NOTHING to do with jesus.. the only reason christians started celebrating christmas and easter and all that junk is because christianity wanted more people in their churches.. so they took the pagan holiday saturnalia, then realized it had nothing to do with christianity.

i found this on google search..

"saturnalia was a week long period of lawlessness celebrated between December 17-25.  During this period, Roman courts were closed, and Roman law dictated that no one could be punished for damaging property or injuring people during the weeklong celebration.  The festival began when Roman authorities chose “an enemy of the Roman people” to represent the “Lord of Misrule.”  Each Roman community selected a victim whom they forced to indulge in food and other physical pleasures throughout the week.  At the festival’s conclusion, December 25th, Roman authorities believed they were destroying the forces of darkness by brutally murdering this innocent man or woman."

sounds REAL christian like..

So christians took THIS holiday and decided that december 25th is jesus's birthday!! After this happened thats when christmas really started to take shape.. the roman pagans worshipped the trees in the forest, they would cut them down and bring them to their houses to decorate them.

"Druid rituals use mistletoe to poison their human sacrificial victim. The Christian custom of “kissing under the mistletoe” is a later synthesis of the sexual license of Saturnalia with the Druidic sacrificial cult."

so think twice before smacking lips under that thing!

and Nicholas was actually a bishop that worked on the net testiment of the bible. Basically their cult made jews look bad that they "killed jesus", that cult spread more north.. to europe where the story got changed some more and around to the rest of europe.. where it changed even more, more people joined and more ideas got thrown in there.. to today where the whole shibang turned into a HUGE moneymaker!!

Now theres soo many n00bs on the internet its tough to keep up with their annoying posts.. maybe if they threw up a screen the first time ya went into the forums that basically blocks ya from doing anything on the page until ya read the rules.. hmm... that just might work..

Off-Topic / Re: Do You Tell Your Kids There is a Santa Clause?
« on: December 14, 2009, 08:20:46 pm »Message ID: 119516
I guess I don't understand why telling that Santa is fake is a good thing???

I'm not a Christian anymore but I still allow my children to belive in Santa and at the same time we give gifts to the AIDS/HIV society, the homeless shelter, and the salvation army.  I make sure they know about people less fortunate than them....I also give them the free choice to their religious beliefs.  I refuse to brainwash my children.  They can believe what they want, when they want.  I think every child should have a little magic in their lives, santa being one of them...tooth fairy, etc.  They know the 'real' Christmas story, they also know the story about rudolph and Santa.  When they are old enough to form they're own opinions, they will.  I absolutely refuse to force my children to my or anyone elses way of thinking.

Children need a little bit of magic to believe in, thats why they are called children.  They are not and should not be treated as mini adults.

I totally agree. Santa is one of those things that makes kids really happy and in turn makes the parents and everyone else happy. I bet everyone has memories of some awesome event ya did when you were little, like going to a water park or going on vacation. When you were a kid it was really big and exciting and everything was just dreamy. But when ya go back and visit the same place as an adult it's not as great as ya remember it to be. Believing in santa is kind of like that, I mean the guy actually did exist and now that he's gone parents have been following through with the same things he did for many generations and should keep the spirit going.I personally don't have kids just yet and I grew up as a jehovas witness so I never celebrated christmas until 2years ago with my boyfriends family.

Off-Topic / Re: Did U graduate or not from high school?
« on: December 14, 2009, 08:10:58 pm »Message ID: 119512
I didn't finish high school but you really don't need the flimsy paper to tell yourself that you can be something.  Granted the flimsy piece of paper can make getting into colleges easier it's not needed.  Start as a laborer like me I'm a driver helper for UPS  :D  and with the opportunities of the net is only a matter of time before people find sites like this one, organizes them and then make money doing hardly any work.  Do you need a diploma for this work hmm let me think umm..... NO you can start as early as 13 on some of these websites!!!!!!!! :o :o
I too work at UPS!! lol I'm a small sort unloader

I finished high school.. Didn't go to college right away.. got a job that required a high school diploma at a factory.. starting pay $10.25 to sit on my butt and do nothing for 10hrs a day.. bought a house.. bought a car.. Now at 21 im going back to college to get a better job an more moolah.. Now by the time im 24 years old i will have my house and car paid off and have a batchlors degree :D

Ya can survive without a high school diploma and ya can always go get a GED wich is basically the same thing but getting it is way easier.. It's just that some jobs ya can't get.. woohoo because theres sites like this on the net now. I actually started doing surveys on the net when I was 13 it was hard to qualify for a lot of surveys but some of them worked out for me.. it was something to do lol. As long as ya have a game plan your set to go! HS diploma or not you will succeed!

Off-Topic / Re: Why Did I Get Married?
« on: December 14, 2009, 05:50:58 pm »Message ID: 119411
Why? Because of the wonderful world of Christianity!!! If ya end up having a child out of wedlock thats a huge bundle of joyful sin right there! We are all taught from a young age that when ya grow up ya got to go to college.. get a good job.. get married.. buy a house with a white picket fence.. and have a family!! That's what the american dream is all about!! Go america!!

With the last job I had I didn't have the time or the effort to even think about having a 2nd job.. My hours ranged from 7am to 2:30am and changed whenever the floor manager changed her underwear.. But I always try to keep a plan B so if something happened I had a back up job and or plan.. It was also very fun living without internet or cable for 3 years lol
