December 27, National Fruitcake Day

I have never received a fruitcake for a gift. I like the fruitcake. Have you ever received a fruitcake? Have you ever re-gifted it? A lot of ingredients goes in a fruitcake, I have never homemade one. Ever homemade a fruitcake?  Do you like to eat slices of fruitcake? Have a gr8 day!

I've tried it in the past and liked it. I think my grandmother had some.

I never met a fruitcake I did not dislike.

I will stick to Christmas fudge

I like fruit in general but I like those that are homemade better.  I prefer more nuts in the cake.  I like to slice it up completely and wrap slices individually and put in the freezer and have for dessert periodically.  I think that I am the only one in my immediately family that like it.

Fruit cakes are definitely one kind of cake that I will pass up. To me, it doesn't look appealing and I'm very glad that I never received one for any Christmas.

My mother used to make Fruit Cakes every Christmas and I did on occasion sample one of them but I never really acquired a taste for fruit cake.  It's very expensive to make not to be as tasty as I thought I would be.

Sounds like you are nuttier than a fruitcake    Those things are nasty and don't really know anyone who likes them

One year, I got 3 of them as gifts... and WHO needs THREE doorstops??  Seriously.  I would never regift one, I don't hate anyone THAT much.  I think they should be banned, they're deadly.

I have actually seen a couple recipes where there is more interesting fruit in the cake.

However, it is good door-stop type substance. It is not worth the time, money, looks on my family's faces ....like "seriously???".

Would rather have our Chocolate Eclair Torte, of Chocolate Zucchini Bread, or Pudding Cake, or Ho-Ho Cake.....anything is better!

Wouldn't want to make anyone ill after a great dinner.  Wonder how it continues to exist?

People think I'm weird cause I'm 29 and love fruitcake! I don't see why people think it's gross. I find it to be very delicious, and would be more than willing to take it off someone's hands if they didn't want it.

When I was in high school fifty years ago, our marching band always sold fruitcakes to raise money.  I never could understand why anyone would want to buy one of those fruitcakes.  Froggylover227, above, proves that some people do like them, but if I am going to eat a lot of calories, I want something that tastes better than fruitcake!
