After all, AIDS is a deadly, incurable disease. But no matter how you come to judge Charles Wheeler and his partners, in ethical, moral, and in human terms, the fact of the matter is, when they fired Andrew Beckett because he had AIDS, they broke the law.

This is true. As long as you can do the job and cannot infect others in the course of your job, this seems like discrimination.

by law, is one required to report to their
employer that they have AIDS or other infectious
diseases? i'm thinking not, if he was hired in the
first place. but the employer could always use
that as their "reason" ... and not the disease
itself, if he didn't report it.

i'd be a little weary if i had to work alongside
someone that had AIDS, but i doubt that its a particularly
easy thing to catch. besides, i'm sure we've all known
someone - or atleast stood beside them at some point -
who has it, whether we've known it or not.

anyway, the point was discrimination.
yeah  :dontknow: why wouldn't it be...

Unless this man is working in a job where his blood and/or bodily fluids are going to come in contact with someone else's blood or bodily fluids, there is NO danger that he will infect someone else! I am amazed that with all the efforts to educate the public about this illness over the past two decades, there is still so much ignorance.

I agree 100% with what you just wrote!!! People need to WAKE UP!! And damn right its discrimination. I do not have aids BUT I in no way shape or form would be scared to be around someone with aids!! Unless you have sexual intercourse or share blood through an open wound you will in no way get infected.
