Parlor or living room ?

In the  midwest , during the 50-60s ours was a living room.

we have always said living room..never used parlor

i have bever heard of anyone saying there is a parlor in the house instead of living room

It has been a very long time since I have heard parlor used.  My grandmother used to refer to the parlor room.  We always called it the living room.  It wasn't used much, only for important company.  We had a "den" that hung out in to watch TV, play, etc.

It seems the difference is a parlor room is for formal usage and a living room is for informal usage but it doesn't matter because if I think about it, I have both.

Ours has always been living room.  You just didn't "live" in there.  NO FOOD!!!!

Since we only have one room (other than kitchen, bath, bedrooms) it's obviously the living room.

We always had a living room that was used by everyone. We never had any rooms that were off limit.

Living room here, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say parlor except in old movies lol.

It was always called the living room for me growing up. Though I had friends with larger houses that would interchange parlor with family room, which was reserved for more special or formal occasions.
