slow computer

Yes! It can be so frustrating when I am doing surveys or whatever and each page takes a full minute or so to load...AAAAAAAH...some days.

I have an old Dell, and it's not even the black, thin monitor.  It's the old big, box-looking monitor.  But, my computer was a gift from my son so I can't complain.  When he brings it in, hooks it up and gets it going and I had none at all before...well, I am just grateful and all I can say is the old Dell clicks on the penny videos or whatever for me when I need it.

     I go back and forth one day yelling that my computer is slow and the next day that my internet connection is to slow!! so which ever it is it drizes me crazy

My computer is rather new, but the internet is up and down depending on the time of day.  Usually it starts to get slower around 3pm and on, more people on the server.  If your computer is slow, maybe you need to do some maintenance on it like, clean the disk, defrag, clearing cache and cookies, empty recycle bin.  Make sure you run some type of anti-spyware.  There is a free one called Super Anti-Spyware that my internet service provider told me about.  It's really good and can get junk off your computer that something like Norton Anti-Virus can't.  Hope this helps

My Dell computer drives me nuts....when I just talked to them they are telling me now I have a software issue, it does crazy things.  I won't buy another Dell, this is the 2nd one and both have been junk.  I even bought the extra system mechanic to help keep my computer "running faster" and free of junk.  Plus the regular security stuff...but it still has problems.

This is how to fix the problems. Make sure that you save all that is important before you do this because if you do not you will loose everything. This is call backing up all your files. When you have done so start the process of system restore. There are step by step instruction on how to take your computer back to the manufacters settings make it like new.
Detached all hardware. like printer cameras etc. Because they did not come already installed you have to reinstall.You can not go wrong it will give you that speed that you had when you use it for the very first time. Not really, maybe your hard-drive needs a bit of cleaning up. Or it could be your internet connection. OR maybe your registry needs cleaning. Just a few tips to look into, Check Device Manager and see if you have any drivers that are outdated or looks like something would be wrong with them and update/fix if there are any. And, there's always Google

If it seems like your computer is fast when you first boot it up but gradually gets slower during the day, the problem may be due to the amount of memory you have available and your cache / history settings for your internet browser. I have my Firefox setup to clear out the history and cache each time I close the browser, so if I've been online for a while and the computer seems to be going slow, I'll sometimes just restart FF and that tends to clear up a lot of issues.

I do remember one time when I had gotten out of grad. school and was working online looking for jobs and filling out applications when I had the worst case of lag. I tried rebooting the computer, but same issue. If I ran some other offline program, it worked fine. I was only an issue online. And what was confusing was that I had a dedicated line to my ISP, so it wasn't as though neighbors were causing the bandwidth to decrease. I finally figured it out when I called a company for a phone interview... The interviewer told me she was postponing the interview until "things settled down". When I was still confused, she told me to turn on the TV right away. When I did, I saw all sorts of news alerts about the terrorist attacks in NYC. Yes, the internet was terrible on 9/11...
