you don't hear so much about ballroom dancing anymore.
I've seen it in the 18th century royalty movies with kings and queens and princesses.
There is a goofy song "ballroom blitz" that doesn't really talk about the real thing.

My favorite ballroom dance movie is "Strictly Ballroom" - I think it was an Aussie film.  Still love that one.  "Dirty Dancing" is a classic - that's the movie that got me interested in ballroom.  There is some tango featured in "Scent of a Woman", and "True Lies".

"Shall We Dance" isn't too bad, and "Dance With Me".

I heard the movie "Silver Linings Playbook" includes some ballroom dance too.

On TV, the new season of "Dancing With the Stars" just started.  If you are a general fan of dance, I'm sure Fox will have another season of "So You Think You Can Dance" which typically includes at least one or 2 ballroom routines per week.

It is still out there, it's just not as popular as it used to be.  There are "clubs" that still get together and have dancing sessions like that.  Call your local dance studio and they can probably hook you up with info on get-togethers.

I tried learning ballroom dancing some years ago but didn't really pursue it.
