The Oil crisis

i watched a show on the oil spill last night for an hour and it showed exactly everything thats happening and i believe they are trying everything they can to stop it and they have brought in anyone and everyone that can try to help. the only problem with the whole situation is this has never happened before therefore they do not have the machinery and tools they need to stop it they are trying to make things and try different ideas but so far nothing they have tried has worked. but i think they deserve some respect for at least trying everything in there power to help the situation.

It is headed to Louisiana but only to the swamp, and the seafood industry will be affected there.  Even more damage will be done along the northwest Florida area, where not only has the seafood industry been affected but also the tourism industry.  Of course, all the attention goes to Louisiana, where the media just won't let Katrina rest - a place where people were too stupid to evacuate from a hurricane when they lived below sea level and then blamed Bush for it.

I live on the gulf coast and would love to volunteer to help clean up. But unless I take a course that could cost up to 500.00$ I am not allowed to touch a single dieing animal that desperately needs help

This situation is so pervasive and utterly depressing, I have a hard time dealing with it on a mental/emotional level. I think that Obama has done all that he can do and he responded very quickly but I feel like he is just as helpless as the rest of us. It should never have happened in the first place!

I feel the same... especially when I think of all the animals and ecosystems that are affected! 

As I like to try to see some positive in every situation... I believe we will learn from this desaster and grow stronger/smarter... from now on, everyone will make conscious decisions to be more ecofriendly and do something about it (not just talk) !

I was watching the news yesterday, and they said the estimated flow of oil into the ocean nearly doubled. Frankly, they are not happy with the way BP is spending money on advertisements trying to "convince" the public that they are doing everything they can to control this, when they could be spending much more money helping out the animals and recruiting efforts to clean up the spill. Many are in favor of the CEO of BP resigning...it seems like in crises like these, the leader's ability to stay strong is really tested. I think people can help out by volunteering, helping out those animals who can barely move because of the oil, or even make a monetary donation. However, yes, you're right, other than that I don't know if there's much else we can do. =[

BP has agreed to put 20 billion in an acct for claims. Who will be in charge of releasing funds to claimants.  Obama should have acted faster, relied on BP to tell the truth in the beginning.  They also should have allowed those with inventions or methods to get rid of the oil a chance to test their products on the real thing! Some of them would have probably actually worked and could have been utilized

I havent really been keeping up with the news with the oil spill. However, last night I watch and saw how some areas were being affected by the spill.  I am just suprised they havent stop the leak its been going on for about 2mos. It should have been stop in 2weeks or at least within the month.
