Potty Time
« on: September 27, 2010, 03:55:34 pm »
My daughter is currently in love with this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1DugrrAxIg

Where I have an issue is the end of the video...Elmo's dad asks about where the air freshener is...then we find out that this was the first time Elmo went "pee pee" on the potty.  WTG, Elmo's dad for making us think Elmo has stinky urine...wonder how he'd react to Elmo commencing with #2.  Seems to me this may be detrimental to potty training.

I know, in the long run its not a big deal...and my daughter knows that what happens on the potty is natural and not embarrassing...I do everything I can to teach her to not be ashamed of it...but it bothered me...much more than Katy Perry's clothing did.  Any views on this?

MAYYYBBEEEE Elmo ate some asparagus and his dad simply needed to clear the air. ;) Have you taught your daughter of the joys of that experience?  :angel12:

On a serious note, I don't think its that bad. It happens, its better for her to be exposed to the fact that using the restroom might not smell like flowers every time than to be oblivious and have it happen and be really embarrassed about it.

Oh man...my daughter eats so many vegetables its not even funny...probably would be considered criminal amongst young'un's her age.  Plus...with her daddy...she can understand fully that bodily functions do not smell like flowers at all times.  I just worried about the fact that it was Elmo's first time on his potty, making his first #1 on the potty, and his daddy after saying "good job" runs looking for the air freshener.  Wait until the kid toddles out before you start spraying crap, dude!  LOL

Sheryl brings up a good point. I didn't even think about the "man-factor" That very well may be the reason it was what it was.

And I lol'd at:

Sheryl does bring up a good point...I hadn't considered that.  My little one enjoys potty humor, too.  Everytime someone lets one off around her, she says "butt" and giggles.  Granted, she just turned 2.
