My favorite board game in my early years was Candyland, Chutes & Ladders, and Life. Whenever it rained in school, everyone stayed indoors to play games. It was great fun.  :)

My favorite board game was Life, Monopoly, and checkers.  We had a very large family so we always had someone to play with.  Winter days when we were finished playing out in the snow we played board games. Memories!   :)

Did you ever wonder if Parker Brothers and Milton Bradley have a Clue about how they have a Monopoly over our board-gaming Life? It Boggles the mind how anyone else would want to Risk making their own game...  ??? (Sorry for all of the puns)

(BTW, Risk is another one of my favorites, esp. in high school and college)

But really, back in the day the only board game was hop scotch and that was done on a sidewalk.  I also liked jacks, step school and red light/green light.  There were no video games so we made up our own games like "king of the hill"  You played it outside on top of a mound of dirt.  the last guy to leave the mound (or hill if you were lucky) was "king of the Hill".  Hey, didn't they make a cartoon out of that?  Anyway, some of you guys missed a great time...and we didn't wear helmets to ride our bikes or skate.  We were really tough huh?   ;D
