With Thanksgiving coming alot of people make gravy or even use store bought..Well you know how sometimes it seems thin or lumpy..Well here is a tip if you add instant potatoes little by little into gravy you can get rid of lumpy thin gravy..I usual add a teaspoon at a time till it seems right it works wonders..Hope this is helpful for your feast.. :peace:

Thanks for the tip !  I had this problem last week and could have used this!  I think I will keep some on hand for problems like this. :bunny:

We simmer the turkey neck and a few other things and use that for gravy water (after it cools).  Then shake up your flour in the cool gravy water before you put it in the roaster pan with the drippings.

When I have lumpy gravy I put it in the blender and puree it for just a few seconds. If it still seems to thin I cook it a little longer or add a bit more flour. I like instant potato idea, that sounds great.

I've never heard of the potato idea.  I never make homemade gravy unless I'm making it with sausage and well since there's meat in it, no one notices the lumps. ;) I always use the jar stuff for the holidays.  Thanks for the idea, will have to give it a try.

I think the key is stirring the gravy long enough in the pan and not using too much flour at once. usually lumps appear bc the amount of flour all at once exceeds the amount of juice you have. so using tablespoons of flour rather than a whole cup at once helps keep the lumps away!

I put the flour and water in a tupperware box and shake it until the lumps are gone, then mix it in.

Great idea for the instant potatoes have never heard of it.   I add hot liquid a little at a time and make that smooth and then keep adding more liquid works real good.
