well.. i'm the wife -- I dont' get the remote too often.
there are certain shows that he knows I enjoy and he lets me watch them   but we do DVR them sometimes and I have to watch them days or weeks later

lol This is kind of a sexist topic, don't ya think?  And I don't get the initial premise...do couples really just sit around and channel surf each evening?!  I would think everyone would have their respective shows that they watch at a certain time...then again, Americans do love their TV!

I don't just let her have it, I make sure she does. I don't want to engage my brain enough to pick a show, so I just watch whatever she wants to.

  My wife and I pretty much watch the same programs, unless she wants to watch the HSN Channel or some Chick Flick! Then I will go into the next room and watch something I`d rather watch...  Thank God we have 2 televisions...

I have solved the remote control dilemma with my husband. I simply watch my programs on the t.v. in the bedroom and he watches what he wants in the living room. It works out great for both of us as I like the t.v. volume at an audible level where he likes it blasting so high it hurts your ears when your in the room. On occasions when we both like to watch a movie together, I let him hold the remote and savour our together time.

 we do not have TV now. cos we will fight. we have only internet. we can watch something we like from internet.  each of us have our own computer. so we do not fight. before, we always fight. so if I watch TV, my husband will use interent. if he watch TV then I will use internet or sleep. LOL>
