Thoughts on new changes? Astros moving to AL, one extra wild card team, interleague year around??

I was pretty disappointed with the changes, but it was expected ahead of time. I think it takes away from the intrigue of the World Series by having inter-league play so often (weekly!). I liked to see my Reds play the Astros, too.

What do you think?

I was shocked to hear the Astros had moved to the AL, but it makes sense since the number of teams were off. I hadn't heard about the other changes until your post. I don't like that there is another Wild Card team or all year inter-league play at all. It seems the league just keeps giving more and more teams second and third chances to make a run at the title. I wouldn't mind seeing it go back to NL winner vs. AL winner and forget the whole playoff race.

Don't know enough about baseball to be too aware of the changes or have a big opinion about them.  My feeling is that the game should simply be played and enjoyed.

Love the changes, particularly concerning the extra wild card game.  It forces teams to play harder to win the wild card as they will want to avoid being involved in the one game playoff .  The one game playoff will be totally up for grabs with a greater likelihood that a lesser team advances.

I don't mind a new team but I'm not too fond of inner league play.  I'm afraid the A.L. pitchers will be more tired cause they aren't used to batting like the N.L. pitchers are. :dontknow: :dontknow:

The new changes to MLB are very interesting! adding a second wild card team to the playoffs should make it more fun

if the astros go to the AL then what happens?  is there an expansion team to take its place?

I don't like it - first of all why didn't they move the Brewers back. They were an AL team in the days of Robin Yount and Paul Molitor. Not big on interleague play at all so having it all the time will just take more away from the game.

I am in favor of the extended use of instant replay. Some things just need to be looked at twice in order to get the call right. I understand that most of the umpires are in favor of it. :)

No, this move actually makes an even number of teams in each league.

I like the addition of another wild card team but it shouldn't be a 5 game series. 3 tops.

I hate it all.  Interleague play takes away from the world series.  It provides for even more of an uneven schedule and that along with the existing uneven schedule is taking away from baseball.  I don't like the extra wild card at all but if they do it then it has to be a one game playoff.  A one game playoff is a joke and doesn't even seem like it is part of the playoffs, but if it is longer then you have the other six teams waiting around a week or so without playing.  I hate just about all of the changes they are making.
