What Natural Event Scares you the most
« on: April 12, 2011, 08:52:03 am »
What Natural Event Scares you the most?  I know my grandaughter right now is scared of lightning or maybe it is just another reason to snuggle with mommy.  But I tend to have a healthy respect for those tornados that mother nature dishes out to us here in Texas.  We had four F1's yesterday and am sure we will have more before the season is over.

Tornados have to be the scariest. Especially if there is no basement around.

Tornados.  I have see what damage they leave behind. A few weeks ago, one destroyed 60 % of a town in Iowa.

Earthquakes! You can prepare for hurricanes, and even tornadoes if you get early warnings. Earthquakes strike with little or NO warnings.

Tornadoes!  When I was younger none of that stuff really bothered me at all.  I would just go about my business as usual.  Now its different! I have children to protect and I now realize the potential of real danger.  When tornados come near, you will find me and my kids and dog under the mattress in the hallway with the laptop getting and giving twitter updates! lol
oh, and praying!

I think an earth quake is the scariest, but I really don't like the thunder.

I have only experienced tornadoes and thunderstorms.  Between those two, tornadoes.  I love thunderstorms, would someday like to chase a tornado.

Earthquakes!  Living here in California for over 40 years I have been through several 7.0 or greater quakes and they will scare anyone, trust me.

I've never been through a natural disaster (knock on wood), but I can imagine that I wouldn't want to experience an earthquake. Just seeing it on the news brings about a 'trap' feeling.

I live in Orlando, Florida. The most I've been through was a bad storm. Some have experienced tornadoes, but I haven't. (I guess Orlando is one of the luckier locations in Florida.) To be stuck in anything that has the possibility of taking lives is scary.
"Make me believe."

My biggest fear(natural disaster or not) is tornados. I'd rather sit through an earthquake and forrest fire with a threat of tsunami then to go through a tornado. I freak out when storms get bad.

Tornadoes, definitely!  I don't live anywhere near the coast or a moderately active fault line.

I think all natural disasters are scary but since I live in tornado alley, I guess I'd pick those.  Apparently, we are close enough to a major fault line that the chances of a BIG earthquake are high and that concerns me too but never having been in one, I'm not as conditioned to fear them.

Tornados, since they're the only one we experience in Milwaukee. However, we have a basement built like a bomb shelter, so as long as we get down there in time, I'm okay!

The idea of serious earthquakes are pretty scary to me - you can't escape them!
