Has anyone bought new appliances lately?
« on: August 09, 2011, 04:20:00 am »
Mass. is having a tax free weekend this weekend. I decided it was time to update some of the my appliances.
1st it took me awhile to decide what style and features I wanted for each appliance and of course what would then fit.
The store did come by and double check the measurements for the refrig , washer and dryer.
After I made my choices I asked them to comeback and double check the washer and dryer b4 they placed the order which they did.The washer and dryer wouldn't fit by almost 3 inches!!!!

The store did find another washer and dryer which they swear are going to fit.I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Everthing will be ordered this weekend
All this and the appliances aren't even installed yet and people wonder why I really don't want renovate any rooms in my unit!
Is this typical for getting new appliances or is it me?
Have a great Day!

I had to laugh reading your post, because every time we've ever bought a new appliance we've had either one mix up or another.

We just moved into a new apartment and got a great deal on a used washer and dryer. But I had the hardest time finding a handyman to come out and install the dryer for us. Everyone kept saying "It's so easy, you can do it"... but I just didn't want to risk doing it wrong. Finally we found a guy, and it wound up taking him two hours because the vent outlet was so small, he needed to widen and repoint it.

I hope this weekend everything works out OK for you!

We have been looking at what we have the appliance that we need and w are working on repairing and not anything else.  Currently that is the only thing that we an do.  But if I was going to buy something I would do it during the tax free week also.

We recently bought a new oven and found a great deal at Sears. Luckily it goes in the open end of our counter space so I did not have to worry about a good fit. That is the only appliance I bought recently and I guess it went really smoothly compared to yal's stories!

Good luck!!
