how long do you usually go without a job before someone hires you?
« on: September 01, 2011, 04:02:35 pm »
i havent never been out of a job at all since 2004. i have always had my mom's daycare on the side and even when i wasnt employed. but these past 2 weeks are like blended together for me coz it's been about 2 weeks before i found another job. this week i didnt work at all, and next week i dont know my schedule so i dont know if i can pay rent. this really sucks when ur struggling.

I've been going years without a job. The last time I worked was before I entered 9th grade.

Out of 17 years of working, I've only spent about 6 months not working and 4 of those have been since I got laid off earlier this year.  Hope I can find something soon.

good luck to all the job seekers -- i have been fortunate to have a job
i have never been without except by my choice when in school, etc.  BUT i have never quit a job without another lined up and i have never been fired or laid off so I just don't know that experience at all, but I wish you all good luck finding what you need.

I usually have two or three jobs and worry when I am down to one because then I am dependant on the job and any quirks that management and owners may have.  I was down to just workmen's compensation four months ago and it took me six to eight weeks to find another job...one that I totally love.  At the time that I accepted three other offers came in!  I have over a year with this job plus workmen's compensation for another several months which allows me a little more liberty in looking for another job.

i have never gone more than 2 months
without a job, and have been working since
i was 16. i'm 25 now...

my job recently hired a guy who called atleast
twice a week and came in occasionally to check
on the "status" of his application. everyone
seemed annoyed at first, but persistence works!
he was hired and so far, has been a reliable
employee.

just keep trying
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

The only time in my 50+ years that I was unemployed was just recently.  I was off for three months.  I found a much better job even though the pay is about 1/3 of what I was making.  I have so much less stress now, work closer to home and plenty of free time for fun things like FusionCash!
Have a wonderful day!

I've been without a job for almost 3 years... by choice.  I retired after 27 years in the Air Force and had to make a decision.  Get another job and make lots of money, or stay retired and get by OK... I chose the latter.  And despite being a bit short of cash every once in a while, I'm happy about my decision.  I may be a bit poorer, but I'm a lot more sane.
