« on: September 10, 2011, 12:06:09 pm »
My very close friend  won some money in the amount of 11,000 dollars, and she gave me 150 dollars and bought my kids a few things... now i see that as ( it's the taught that counts), but i have another friend that thinks she only gave me that so i would'nt say she did'nt give me any. my question to you is.... is that a bad sign or is it not? i will like to hear other people opinions!

I think your friend was being nice and generous to you by giving you that money because she knew you would use it for your children. The friend who thought otherwise is just jealous, that's all. Appreciate the gift because honestly, she didn't have to give any and she was being very nice by doing that  :)

This is actually a more common situation than you might think.  For some reason (perhaps human nature) it almost always leads to conflict among family and friends when monetary good fortune falls upon one.  I deliberately conditioned myself to remember up front that first and foremost it is the other persons money and I have no rights to it or any expectations to share in it.  From such a position as that anything shared or given can be appreciated as the true gift it actually is.  You can then help your friend enjoy their luck and not feel any of the typical negativity that comes with such a thing.

Had your friend kept their win a secret and then given some money to you how would you feel?  That is the same way you should think about it now.  Trying to judge their sincerity and generosity based on a ratio of the amount is a bad thing and if you let it, it will work its way deeper into your thinking and can only cause bad and unjustified feelings.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I think that people can be so mean about money.  It seems to be never enough and if you won the Lotto and gave each of your friends 10,000.00 they would wonder why they did not get 20,000.00 and why all their brothers and sisters were not included............It is just human nature so tell your friend that won the money to not worry what people think. 8)

I think you should be happy to get anything. It is found money and they didn't have to give you anything or even tell you that they won.

Does it matter?  Why question her motives?  Be thankful for the gift and don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

I think it is very nice that she gave you the money and got some things for your kids because she didn't have to even do that. Most people probably wouldn't have. I don't know anything about your other friend, but it seems to me she may be jealous or just trying to get you to think things about your friend that aren't true. Not sure. I wouldn't take anything out of context. What could she have possibly done wrong by giving to you? Whether she got the money for free or not. It's still hers.

it is good she gave that money, I hope I can win some money too, so that I can donate some and I can help some poor people who really need help!

It can be hard to appreciate a small gift when you know the person has more to give but in your case $11,000 doesn't really go very far. If your friend has bills, house payments, loans, needs a new car, etc.. They already have a lot of ways to use the money so you should really consider yourself lucky. It it were a larger sum you would hope for a larger portion but in the end it is the winner that gets say over how they spend the money and you have to be happy with their choices.

unless the friend with the money says anything different i would take the money as a gift and not a way to keep you quiet.
