Wouldn't matter as much as we get quite a share of violence and sexual suggestions on television nowadays. I like certain levels of each when I watch, but if something is extreme for me I can choose to ignore the showing.

I have to actually agree that Hollywood should cut back on this. I really think all the sex and violence desensitizes us as a whole to either or both. It shows too. Violent crime is on the rise and rape is beyond common nowadays. Do I blame it directly on the movies? No. However, I think it does desensitize us. Most ppl in the past would see these kinds of things in film and be horrified. Nowadays we just let it wash over us and categorize it in our brains as a necessary part of the movie. I think this bleeds over to the real world where this desensitization leads to bad language, rudeness, loose morals, violence, etc. Each person is their own person and I'm not saying it applies to everyone. Lots of ppl are easily influenced though without realizing it. At least that's my thoughts, I could be wrong too ya know.

I think we should stop blaming violence on the movie industry and start blaming it on the media giving TONS of attention to anyone who commits extremely violent acts. We glorify violence in everyday life, not just in the movies. If someone commits a violent act, the media makes them infamous... and guess what? That's EXACTLY what they're looking for.

It's ridiculous to say that movies are to blame because we all watch those movies and the vast majority of us aren't violent or even particularly sexual. The ones who are sometimes blame movies because it's an easy scapegoat.

Here's a great quote from Roger Ebert about it.

Yes and no... If it is relevant to the story, I don't mind. It's just a movie and they are rated so you know what type of content you might be seeing. I don't care for violent or gory movies, and sex isn't that bad most of the time unless it's  *bleep*.

Most movies are fictional and should be viewed as such.  I don't think that they should be censored, but ratings do need to be clearly defined.  Let the public know that there is sex or violence involved so that they can decide to see it or not.

No, because I believe people make their own future, and if they know right from wrong, they shouldnt be able to blame movie violence and sexuality(which sells in the movie industry) for what they choose to do.

I think I would rather see a movie with sex in it,  than all the violent movies out there.  Seems too many people get crazy ideas from all the violence that is on TV.  Sad Sad Sad.

I agree that the media is more to blame than Hollywood, although movies and TV show, and more especially video games, does make na impression on kids and the mentally unbalanced. I think it is actually the whole culture we are imbued with, that warps people's thinking and judgement. But I do wish they would stop using violence and sex as a substitute for good acting, writing, and filming. Most of my favorite movies and TV shows have violence, but not just for the sake of violence. But nowadays they just do what sells, and unfortunately society today is willing to pay for cheap trash that isn't even entertaining. I think it is a reflection on how far our society has fallen.
