Places to stop in Western US

I am going to be traveling through Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Oregon and Washington within the next week.  Does anyone have any recommendations for great places to stop or sights to see along the way?

Right now, I can think of Long Beach, WA - Sequim, WA - Port Townsend, WA. You can go see the world's longest beach in long beach, wa. Then, you can go see fort worden in port townsend, wa. I think you may like sequim, wa because its a small peaceful town. you can also go visit the olympic game farm there too. I currently live here in washington and I use to live in Idaho. I will have to go think about it for a while and see if I can come up with anything else for you.

It sounds like you will be traveling west on hwy 84 through Oregon, but you can see some unique views if you take a side detour on the Historic Columbia River Highway 30 through the Columbia River Gorge.

  Oh my can't believe nobody has mentioned stopping in and checking out Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Teton's in Wyoming.  And if I was touring National parks I would definately continue on north following the rocky mountains into Montana and than cutting over on US highway 2 through Idaho into Washington.
