Dvds, blu rays, or digital format?
« on: June 13, 2012, 12:44:07 pm »
I still have a lot of dvds and some vhs. do these formats seem archaic today? Blu ray and Digital format are actually becoming very popular for new releases. Have any of you switch platforms or do you still prefer VHS and DVD?

DVD is so much better, vcrs break down all the time, and the tapes get stuck in them.

At the moment I'm sticking with DVDs.  I haven't yet found reason good enough or compelling enough to convert to Blu-Ray (call me cheap, I guess).  I definitely prefer DVDs to VHS tapes because of all the extra goodies on the discs.  For that matter, a lot of the time I prefer the DVDs to the live theater for that very reason.

I use dvds for short clips like music videos and vhs for movies. It seems if you don't mess around with your vcrs trying to find stuff they last a pretty long time.
I don't really like the digital format because I don't feel like I actually own it. My computer is always breaking and I don't feel like paying to back up my system to save all my files either. I don't like watching video on my computer and I don't feel like investing more money into another digital format so I can watch the samething I am all ready watching just a bit better. I never used blu ray but I am sure I will someday. :dontknow:

I'm sticking with Blu Ray and DVDs at the moment. I have a couple of combos with a digital copy, but I don't really need this at the moment. I might start moving eventually to a cloud environment to store movies, but I'm skeptical about having to pay extra fees to maintain this.

I have SO many VHS tapes. I really need to switch things over to DVD. I still use VHS tapes though. Like we had HBO and Cinemax for free over last weekend and I recorded some movies off of it.

I love DVDs but I usually watch movie from my computer so they all get converted to AVI, MP4 or some other format.

DVD format is what I usually use. Blue ray is really good quality too, but I don't have a blue ray player so I'm stuck with DVD
