I had a german shepherd that recently died from old age but she used to say "I love you" as plain as a human being.  I wish I would of recorded her saying it because she said it clearer than the dog on tv that says it.  I also had a german shepherd that would sing when you'd play a certain song on the harmonica.  You could play a few songs, 10 songs or 50 songs, he didn't sing until you started playing "When the saints go marching in"!
